A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

The third in this unconnected series of "Sex and Zen" movies is the most explicit and in my opinion, has the most beautiful bodies. Some may also find it the most misogynistic of the three. The story takes place in historical China, in a corrupt time where lawlessness prevailed. It opens with a beautiful woman caught in the act of committing adultery - a crime punishable by death. The jail guards off the beautiful young lady a deal where they get to have a group gang- bang with her in exchange for her freedom. She puts out on her end of the deal but obviously the guards don't and end up throwing her in the dungeon with all the maniacs. And that's how it starts. Some parts sexy, but on a "deeper" level, disgusting.Next up is the main story where a young lady, "Susan" (played by the very beautiful Chung Chun) is sold off to a whorehouse because her parents are poor. There she meets two other girls similarly sold into prostitution. Susan and her new colleagues are quickly taught the arts of lovemaking and she eventually experiments with her new friend in a sexy lesbian scene. Her encounter with her first lover is also equally erotic. The sex scene that intercuts theirs is more comical with Elvis Tsui showing his prowess over his prostitute. Elvis eventually finds a way to take Susan away from her young lover and in a bizarre yet sexy scene, blindfolds Susan, has his servant perform foreplay and start the action, and then pushes him away and finishes the deed. In an odd twist, Elvis gets murdered (poisoned) and Susan is accused of murder. the rest of the plot goes into trial mode and is not very interesting. It's as if they ran out of ideas and just wanted to finish the movie without any more sex scenes. Very strange. I'm a little conflicted by this one. The scenarios are a bit repulsive but the ladies are very sexy and a few of the scenes were well lit, well shot, and well acted. 8/10 for the nubile talents of Chung Chun

The original Sex & Zen was a provocative, inteligent, and fun erotic movie that broke new ground for the genre. The sequel was just a more explicit 'erotic ghost story' riding on the success of the original (though still thoroughly enjoyable). This one is again, a new kettle of fish altogether, and while it doesn't contain the fantasy element of Sex & Zen II, the style is more similar to that than of the first. It's certainly the weakest in the series: It lacks the humour of the first two and contains the least interesting sex scenes with the original having the wackiest, and the sequel having the most beautiful girls.
But I still thoroughly enjoyed Sex & Zen III, the story is still entertaining, the girls still beautiful, and the sex still more explicit than your average movie.
