Amsterdam's world-famous red-light district is the fascinating backdrop to the story of plucky prostitute Lina as she searches for Mr Right. Lina thinks she has found true love with American punter Sean, but she may be treading a fine line between fantasy and reality. Could Sean be her Prince Charming or will she end up heartbroken? With hard-won access to this notoriously secretive, hidden world, Sexwork, Love & Mr Right will be a revealing and thought-provoking documentary with multiple supporting narratives from experienced punters to wise madams. As streetwise sexworker Lina navigates the highs and lows of her precarious new relationship, the film asks can sexworkers ever really find true love?

Reviews

Breakinger A Brilliant Conflict
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Edison Witt The first must-see film of the year.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
Karl Self ... but you can't get the honky tonk out of the girl. This old adage comes true in this documentary which offers unusual access to the private life of a Romanian prostitute in Amsterdam. She has moved on from doing "regular" tricks to, erm, apparently fisting her submissive male clients, for which she assures us in very broken English it's preferable to use plastic gloves for hygienic reasons. Glad she got that straight. Apart from the punters, she has two men in her life: an elderly father figure type and a prospective husband. Both are straightlaced and nice and slightly creepy, but no match for the enterprising Lina. She might have seen like a hooker with a heart to them, to me she came across more like a dip-dyed praying mantis. If you're looking for a hooker with a heart of gold, check out "Pretty Woman" instead.
