An absolute waste of money
ChicDragon
It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.

It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

Marriage or commitment is a social as well as mental satisfaction tying you in a freedom less world where you have to think of other as well as yourself with context to your spouse and take responsibility. This is the though which is questioned through this coming of age film.Raghu is a confused but straight forward boy who reluctantly agrees for arranged marriage, but in certain turn of events rethinks his decision and takes a drastic step. The film starts of good and goes back and forth th "up - down" meter quite a few times. Lets just say it has its share of extremely good moments to extremely bad ones. Coming to few goods of this film. Firstly the awesome Cinematography which kept me spellbound and wanting for more. The beauty along with hustle bustle of Jaipur is captured brilliantly. 2 minutes into the film and I found my drooling just for cinematography. Another good thing is the performances. Parineeti is stand out whereas Sushant is good. Vaani has a charm but she's got miles to go before she becomes as good an actress Parineeti is. Rishi Ji as always have perfect comic timing and class acting. Third good is the comedy which manages to make you smile if not "rofl". Also the confusion among the characters is portrayed nicely, but it could have been better. Now the bad things, Firstly the confusing and abrupt climax, which is in fact too abrupt and sudden for the mind to sink in. Especially the breaking of "love triangle" seemed forced and "just for the sake of ending it" kind. It could have been better explained. Secondly, editing, the film could have easily been 5 to 7 minutes shorter. Third, lacking in character development, after two hours of the film one fails to properly define the character traits of the leads, also one does not feel any attachment towards the character, which is a huge let down.Another thing is, the "restriction" this movie is all about isn't something that society imposes on the bride-groom, but it is something prevalent and present in common or live in relation ships. Freedom is the freedom of mind not the freedom of society. So, in short the whole film becomes objectless to say.Direction: Average.Story/Screenplay: Nice with good dialogues but low on character development and flawed in parts.Acting: Parineeti stands out. Shushant is good. Rishi Ji fits the role. Vaani is Average.Music: Soundtrack is good battleground score is good. But the placement of soundtrack and occasional throw ins of old renowned music is what catches the ear.All in all a nice rom-com, which can be enjoyed with a loved one, but certainly a one time watch.

This is one of the most confused films I've ever seen!! What Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma were trying to achieve I am really not sure? The story just does not stick, and is a very forgetful film.Sushant Singh Rajput looks like a natural actor, but the story doesn't give him the scope to show his caliber. Parineeti Chopra is a very natural actor anyway, and she pulls off her role with ease. Vaani Kapoor doesn't look comfortable on screen and has a debut to forget! Overall the film is a total flop! I had big expectations of the duo Aditya Chopra and Maneesha Sharma after Band Baaja Baarat but this was nowhere near that level. The story just lacked proper content and a punch. I would have named this film 'Confused Desi Romance'. There's more kisses and smoking cigarettes than depth in content!

Shuddh Desi Romance is an interesting watch, challenges many set rules that we think is imperative for us to follow. Since the premise is a little complex, the final take is not as sure footed. I guess it should be an interesting take on modern relationships . Love stories are so warm and fuzzy in the beginning, willing to overlook every little crease. Shuddh Desi Romance Interval is called a Bathroom Break, watch the film to find out why. The past catches up with us just when we think we have managed to put it all behind. Getting back at someone who dumped you is such sweet revenge, especially when you are doing it and they have no clue!!

There is a new trend of attracting audience in which Bollywood movies are set in typical North Indian style like Band Baja Baraat , Fukrey , BA Pass. Shudh Desi Romance is set in Jaipur exploring the wedding culture and tradition.Shudh Desi Romance is about wedding jitters , commitment , instant- attraction and live-in-relationship between 3 people - Raghu, Gayatri and Tara. From the fun-filled Band Baja Baraat and mediocre Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Maneesh Sharma presents you yet another love and attraction saga that explores the relationship and commitment. The story also challenges the mindset of Indian audience about accepting the live-in-relationship concept which is very much alive in society. The direction was good and few sequences were really remarkable. Apart from that, climax was unconvincing. It messed up so much that unnecessary extension of melodrama as to whom Raghu is going to get married will bore you. Screenplay falters and it goes down terribly. Editing could have been better. Art direction and cinematography is good. Music is mediocre. It is the performance of the film that should be lauded. Right from Sushant Singh , Pareenti Chopra , new bee Vandana Kapoor , veteran Rishi Kapoor were enthralling. It is difficult to highlight anyone in particular but Rishi Kapoor does it again. With age , he is re-inventing himself and that shows in the role he chooses. Overall , Shudh Desi Romance can be touted as one-time decent romantic complicated love triangle which had potential but turned out to be an average entertainment. Decent 2.5/5
