Reviews

UnowPriceless hyped garbage
Ogosmith Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Marva It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Billy Ollie Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
yazraf2 It would be alot better if the someone with more talent wrote the script, poor acting, I don't know what positive reviewers thought when they wrote their reviews.
Dex Major I don't really know how to rate this movie. The movie was pretty good. The slam-dunking was excellent. The story was sad and happy - i was laughing and crying. The ending was messed up with the bad guy getting away with taking his girlfriend. Part of the movie is a 10. Then you have to take away a point for the OK acting. Okay, I'll give it an 9......
Suzanne Webb A GREAT movie, don't let the votes fool you, it's not a 8/10, more like 8.5."Slam" gets the edge because I love basketball and because I'm a sucker for well done mother-son conflicts. The basketball parts of this movie are absolutely brilliantly shot. Most sports movies share two commonalities: completely ridiculous story lines and actors who throw like sissies. "Slam" avoids both.Although "Slamma Jamma" did some amazing work with this movie especially with the inner city sequences, as well as the use of colors and poetry to his advantage for getting his ideas across to the audience, several scenes were unneeded which seemed overly explicit. Although these are truly issues that can ruin a famous person or former College star Diggs, they seemed almost too graphic to be seen by a general audience. What the film does so well is keeping the real connections with the street, and enabling the audience to see exactly what the character is going through by using several techniques. Colors in the movie such as red, green, and black symbolize power, pain, and respect between different charactersOverall this film is a very good spin on the basketball sports movie, yet with no huge stadiums or big games to win the championship, like what usually constitutes a basketball movie. Instead, the two main characters go through much self-analysis and introspective maturing, something that is quite rare for sports-playing men in film to do. I liked the strong use of color and the well-framed shots, and especially enjoyed Michael Digg's brooding performance. A classic, must-see movie for anyone interested in cinematography or film.
robertlangella in my opinion, this is one of my all-time favorite movies. they are correct when they call it "the rocky of the 2000's". this is a great movie that will motivate you to get things done and will also make you realize you can do anything you put your mind to."Slamma Jamma" is another one of those movies that shows you that anyone can make a difference. Even if they're at the bottom. But what this movie has over the other is that they do it with a lot more spice and character. Chris Staples, who is a real-life slam dunk champion, plays a character who's been through too much; but never seems to give up, no matter what the costs. Staples accomplishes this to it's total capacity. By showing the audience that working hard, never giving up, and giving it your best shot could inspire anyone to accomplish anything. Staples is also well suited for the role for his reflection of pursuit, emotion, and talent to take in the bad and the good influences. Michael Irvin is also good in the film. This is truly an inspirational film. You don't have to be a basketball fan to cheer for Diggs. This is a wonderful true-life example of a person stopping at nothing to achieve their dream. It is highly emotional and marvelously acted by all. I'm not sure how many of the details of this film really happened, but Diggs was a real person. He did overcome great odds. He should be motivation for us all.Not By FAr, But Slamma Is the greatest Football Movie ever made. The Determination and Heart of One Man That leaves you hooked through the whole movie is Outrageous. You Find yourself Pushing Diggs closer to his dream even though you know its just a movie. The ACting was well done, and the Scrpit was Perfect. The Ironic thing is its a True story making it even more conpelling. This is one of the Few movies that leaves a Happy tear in my eye at the end. If you Want to see a movie that is Worth the money to Rent or even Buy, See this one.Naturally assumes its rightful place among the great sports films of our time. It can easily go punch for punch and hit for hit with ROCKY, THE NATURAL, or FIELD OF DREAMS. It is the classic story of the underdog beating all of the odds to succeed on his own terms. Chris Staples doesn't perform Michael, he simply is Michael, and on his shoulders we are carried along on a great ride. A great sports movie, a great family movie, a great movie. Michael! Michael! Michael!I had a similar epiphany in my life where once I thought my life was all over and then I found there was so much more with some good effort and following your heart. I ball my eyes out at the end of the movie. What else can I say?Plot- 9.5/10 Acting 9/10 Script 10/10 Directing 10/10 Flow 9/10Overall 9.4/10
