SmugKitZine Tied for the best movie I have ever seen
Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
nicholas-82765 While this movie is similar to Taken, it is not quite as good. However, if you are looking for a fairly brainless escape from reality, with some action and some violence, this is a decently entertaining film. There are a couple catchy lines, but in general, the dialogue is fairly cookie cutter. Nicholas Cage provides the performance that we expect in the role that he usually plays (a bad guy with a good side). Josh Lucas provides a fairly strong performance and truthfully is the highlight of the film. Malin does a good job, but she is underutilized in this film. It is a film that has some interesting parts, but a good portion of it falls flat. Again, it is entertaining despite its high predictability.
Uriah43 With the help of three other burglars, a notorious bank thief named "Will Montgomery" (Nicolas Cage) breaks into a bank and heists $10 million from within the vault. However, as he and an accomplice named "Vincent" (John Lucas) are leaving the bank a fight breaks out between the two because Vincent wants to murder an innocent bystander. During the scuffle Will shoots Vincent in the leg but because of the valuable time wasted Will is subsequently left behind with the money when the police arrive. Faced with a tough decision, Will disposes of the money prior to being apprehended and due to this lack of evidence he is only sentenced to eight years in prison. Unfortunately, once he gets out nobody believes he got rid of $10 million and Vincent want a piece of it. Badly. As a result he kidnaps Will's daughter, "Alison" (Sami Gayle) and threatens to kill her if Will doesn't hand the money over to him. Now rather than detail the rest of the story and risk ruining this movie for those who haven't seen it, I will just say that it pretty much followed a standard format most of the way. Nothing really new. As a matter of fact, about the only things that made this film worthwhile and was the presence of Nicolas Cage. Likewise, Malin Akerman (as "Riley Jeffers") was definitely nice on the eyes. Be that as it may, I must say how incredibly ludicrous the last 30 minutes were and it's because of this that I haven't rated this film any higher than average. Seriously, you have to see it to believe it. Only in Hollywood.
MoviesReviews101 Story: How often have we seen a bank robbing team spilt up with one turning on the rest when a job goes bad? It's easy to create the basic tension between the characters, you add in the resilient cop and we get the basic three way battle, all out to outsmart each other. Having the kidnapped daughter involved makes the villain of the piece look even more villainous. Sounds basic and it is, don't expect any massive twists or turns just enjoy the story unfolding. (7/10)Actor ReviewNicolas Cage: Will the mastermind of the bank robbers who gets caught, fresh out of prison he wants to live a normal life but his old partner has other plans for him. Good performance from Cage, do what he needs to do without really excelling. (7/10)Josh Lucas: Vincent the twisted former partner of Will who has been through some hard times and even faked his own death biding his time until he can get his money from Will. Good villainous role that does enough to make himself worse than just an old friend out for revenge. (8/10)Danny Huston: Tim the FBI agent who has been tracking Will for years putting his own personal life at risk and just when he thinks he has him he loses out on catching him with the money. Typical FBI agent role, that uses his hat to try and making him look different. (7/10)Malin Akerman: Riley a member of the robbery team that gets away and has turned her life around to become more honest. She helps Will when he needs to resources of his old life to save his daughter. Good supporting role. (6/10)Sami Gayle: Alison Will's daughter who resents him after his time away who gets kidnapped and tries to outsmart her kidnapper. Simple 'Help' performance that offers nothing new. (6/10)Director Review: Simon West – Good direction to create a simple to watch thriller. (7/10)Action: Few car chases that look good but not as much action as you would expect. (7/10)Thriller: Good thriller that keeps you pulled in to see what will happen next. (8/10)Settings: New Orleans makes for a good setting showing off the carnivals there. (8/10)Suggestion: This is one for the thriller fans out there to enjoy, it could appeal to the more casual fans as well being easy to watch. (Thriller Fans Watch)Best Part: Will's robbery, just nonsense style.Worst Part: Where did they get the information to be ready at the start?Action Scene Of The Film: Will trying to escape the opening chase.Believability: No (0/10)Chances of Tears: No (0/10)Chances of Sequel: NoPost Credits Scene: NoOscar Chances: NoBox Office: $2 MillionBudget: $35 MillionRuntime: 1 Hour 35 MinutesTagline: 12 Hours. $10 Million. 1 Kidnapped Daughter.Overall: Enjoyable ThrillerCheck out more reviews on http://moviesreview101.com/
thisisalbundy Well Nicholas Cage has done it again. Why is his emotionless and depressing acting style so popular? It is beyond my comprehension. And yet to see movie producers choose him for even more movies is unbelievable. This is a classic case of popular is not the best and definitely not worth paying for. Why do movie companies continue to pay his high salary demands when he delivers pathetic disappointing movies that tarnish the movie entertainment experience not promote it.You wonder what could have been if other actors had been chosen to play his roles. This is one movie where this question remains unanswered.
