Highly Overrated But Still Good

Excellent, a Must See

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

First things first: We don't have a first rate movie here. However, it was not as much a turkey as I had hoped/feared. Expecting the awful, with all systems set "prepared to fast forward", I rather enjoyed it. Acting was fine overall, especially Michael Tierrault. The characters could have been deeper, better presented, which is a problem with diving head first into the problem without knowing the characters first.Of course it has more than a little in common with Alien (although slightly less than I feared), but even more it reminds me of the Norwegian TV series "Blindpassasjer". Oh yes, the special effects (which are sometimes less than stellar) stray into some other movies as well. What the movie boils down to is a surprisingly clear message: Don't stray from the rules! This is a rather unusual message in a movie today. Movies almost always praise the rule breaker, the rebel who dares go his/her own way. The crew members break the rules over and over, they are ruled by emotions rather than facts and logic, and the alien gets the advantage from that.Overall, weak but not unwatchable, but by all means don't expect more than a B movie!

This is like an Alien rip off ... And badly done at that. Bought the DVD as I loved Christian Slater, but oh darn how far he has fallen. Such a shame wish I had my 90 odd minutes back ..... I really did want to enjoy this movie, I wish I had but I am sitting here typing a bad review rather than watch the film ... Wonder what that says .. IMDb wants me to write 10 lines of text before I can write a review,, wonder what that says ... Freaking annoying if you ask me. it is more enjoyable to COMPLAIN about this movie... than to WATCH it! =====The only reason I do not give this a blatant rating of ZERO, is I feel sorry for the actors and investors (if there WERE investors). I swear to the gods above, my own very very FIRST action, (after viewing this movie) was to get UP... go to my blog, and write a scathing review.I did not hesitate, I did not "Pass Go" I did not "collect 200 dollars"...tho I must admit I do believe the acting budget was probably 200 dollars. Please see my own review on hub pages under the name/ID StvRich at StvRich.hubpages.comI am dead serious.I even appreciate the "Bad" Movies produced by this genre' I am literally SORRY that Christian Slaters name is on this. Why?it's more enjoyable to COMPLAIN about this movie,~than to watch it. -Good Lord, help us.One of the "creators" of this fine piece of Sci-Fi torture, claims to have worked upon several of George Lucas's movies (sets and cameras), yet, I feel more certain he must have merely been delivering SANDWICHES, to those sets.I have personally only -WATCHED- George Lucas's movies,... and I can probably produce a better movie than this.

The sets on display here (thankfully can only be seen at the beginning of the movie for a short period of time) are so bad, that you'd wish they'd have used a Lego set. Pretty sure that would've added more realism to the whole thing. Realism and being serious though being things that destroy this movie faster than an Ant's sneeze would take to destroy the "set". Just slightly faster though. While the interior is somewhat OK (compared to the exterior you could say a Quantum leap), this is not all that is wrong with the movie. There is also the plot. The thin thread that is holding together all the "action" and "excitement" you're about to witness. Slater obviously needs money and you do wonder (or I do), if that is still the same actor who I cherished from movies such as "True Romance". If the movie would just try to relish on how messed up it is and go for the "let's make fun of ourselves", it might have been somewhat entertaining. Unfortunately the only thing you might feel, is sorry for the actors ... Stay clear, for your own good
