if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

No offense but if you think this thing is a "great movie" you may need to see more films.After two or three scenes, sex starts to get boring...except here. Where we are treated to straight people talking--talking--talking--about sex. Good grief, move on. I would rather, however see multiple simulated sex scenes (as predictable as they are) than to watch two alleged actors sucking each other tongues in close up. I mean, what acting school do you have to learn that technique? It's slow. It plods. It repeats the same dialog and situations over and over again. These are boring characters and a stinky screenplay. Given that, there is no place to go but down.In the end, I just wish they could all have one good orgasm and then roll over, shut up and get some sleep. A total bore. Two stars for showing up.

Strictly Sexual is not exactly what I was expecting.It is a straightforward script with two women who decide to hire two men for sexual purpose only but then they fall in love with them. The script is really direct and the characters are not very well developed. Fortunately, there is some funny parts which improve the movie. However, most of the thoughts developed in the movie are pretty elementary and classic and make the movie kind of lame.This movie just looks like the same as many of other ones and it is a shame because I think that it probably could be a better movie if the script was more developed and the characters more interesting.

After an intense week with Dario Argento and Japanese horror movies "Strictly Sexual" was chosen as a random romantic comedy. Expecting something in the mold of pubic "American Pie" fun I was unaware of the the strong indie credentials of this unknown pearl of a movie.Two physical workers, Joe (Johann Urb) and Stanny (Stevie Long, who interestingly enough is also the scriptwriter) venture into California in search of a new beginning, but unable to find construction work they quickly find themselves running on financial fumes. At the same time two house-mates - the sexually fervent Donna (Amber Benson) and the rigid Christi Ann (Kristen Kerr) - decide for a night out at a hotel, where word has it male escorts are available at the bar. With a comical twist that initiates the story Donna and Christi Ann invite Joe and Stanny mistaking them for prostitutes. After a brilliant spent night together Donna and Christi Ann decide to offer the boys a deal - be our sex slaves for money. Joe and Stanny reluctantly agree, but their acceptance causes unforeseeable events...The initial quarter of an hour had me sincerely doubting the quality of the movie with a very poorly done opening scene together with a corny rewind. Accepting that the comedy was going to be poorly acted with a vague and simple story I was exponentially unprepared for what this movie turned out to be. And that is an affectionate and passionate dissection of relationships. The dialogue is so intense and full of heart, that I would not be surprised if significant parts of the script were real-life situations written down in a dramatic context. Albeit the emotional wallop that the movie delivers seems mainly focused on the relationship between Donna and Stanny. The scriptwriter/actor Stevie Long seems almost as if he is reliving painful past memory, almost as if the most intense scenes were his form of achieving catharsis.The absolutely brilliant final fight was so real and I felt so much connection with the whole quarrel with my personal experiences. There is however a stark difference between the extremely intimate portrait of Donna's and Stanny's relationship and that of Christi Ann and Joe, which reeks a bit of fairy-tale romance, especially when contrasted to the brutal love-hate crash-course offered by their opposite pair.Nonetheless even those fairytailish segments are enjoyable and even though they don't convey similar realism it still has enough heart to keep you involved. The acting is sufficient, if awkward at times, with a couple of breakthrough scenes, which are so emotionally packed, that the previous flaws are easy to forget. All in all a very good indie romantic comedy, which deserves to be much higher on the radar and invokes to mind very positive comparisons of "Swingers" or "Chasing Amy".

Its a fantastic story, and it couldn't have been more perfect any other way.The actors were perfect for their roles, the non-mainstream style of the cinematography, sets, costumes, and actors made this movie shine like Little Miss Sunshine to me.Its rare when a movie seems so truly genuine. One of my top 25 romance movies for sure - I won't watch it repeatedly, but I hope I cross paths with the movie in the future, several times in my life. Its not something that I would watch in a film class for technique, because there are flaws to the movie, but the flaws are something that make it seem so genuine, so real. It's almost like you are there, or someone was just using a camcorder to film the movie. You don't get that effect with something like Funny People, but you most certainly do with something like Say Anything - the movie and the characters just feel right.
