"Das verrückteste Auto der Welt" or "The Maddest Car in the World" is a West German movie from 1975, so this one is already over 40 years old too. It is the fourth installment of Rudolf Zehetgruber's Käfer film series and it really is all in here like it is in the previous editions. This is actually the first that does not have "Käfer" in the title. It is not worth seeing at all if you are looking fro a film that has quality acting or strong writing. Zehetgruber, Borghese and Giller all played in film number 3 already and they return for this one. But there is nothing new to the table here. The good thing is that the series has hardly gotten anything worse, the bad thing is that the reason for this steadiness is that it was an entirely forgettable franchise very much from the start. I actually do not need to make a recommendation for this one as I am sure you have already seen previous films if you consider watching this one. Still, I personally did not enjoy the watch and I am baffled by how many films this series has, but it is very similar to the Schulmädchen series (not in terms of content of course) that people back then did not mind the bad quality if it gave them the occasional absurd laugh. A fifth film should follow a couple years later, but with this fourth film the franchise was already almost over. The only good thing may be that this series of films apparently inspired the maker of "Knight Rider" for his project. At least, that's positive for Knight Rider fans, which I would not call myself either. But back to this one: Thums down. Not recommended.

In the series of 5 DuDu/Superbug movies,this ranks as one of the lowest.To think the high water mark was the previous film (Superbug Rides Again) and then this entry comes along to totally sully the Dudu genre.Most of the actors from Dudu movie #3 are in this #4 installment.Lead character Jimmy Bondi,the female lead played again by Zehetgruber's wife(here as a nun),the 2nd nun is played by Evelin Kraft(who played the leggy/long haired Jac in #3),the male/female duo from #3 (Ms Binghameir,Mr Stutzli) are back here as a comedic pair,Aldo Regazzoni is back (however Bondi isn't friends with him here as he was in #3),and Dudu the yellow Beetle is back (now though with the trunk full of computer gizmos,a net under the engine,yellow painted bumpers,and different aluminum wheels).Dudu's annoying tinny voice trying hard to make one-liners is tiring.His ability to transform into a helicopter (a rotating head pops up thru the roof...yea,where is it when its down?...and the tailrotor plugs into the hole in the engine lid the wind up key once used in film #3)is really far fetched.Actual scenes of Dudu flying is really a remote control heli,as was the actual model heli that Dudu now featured as a companion "scout" vehicle.They threw everything into this weezer,and it ranks as a sad mish mash of ideas with no common thread linking it all together.They would have done better to further the story from film #3 as Hell Drivers once again accidentally bumping into criminal activities.

This movie is the 4th movie in the "Dudu" series, a yellow beetle doing a rally over the Alps. It draws from Herbie the white beetle, but where Herbie had a soul, this one is controlled by a computer (lot's of blinking lights, clicking sounds, and a tape recorder.The film itself is rather mediocre, the plot is shallow and pretty much predictable. There are a few moments where you have to smile because it's just so incredibly stupid. I remember seeing this thing when I was about 6 or 7 and I loved it back then. So seeing this movie does require the right kind of infantile attitude :).Many characters in the movie itself are dubbed in Swiss German, as the rally happens in Switzerland. This invites a lot of smiles for Germans, it just sounds cute, in my opinion.
