It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Ten years after their casino heist, four escaped convicts trace their former partner to a desert town, where he is now a lawman with no memory of his criminal past. Swelter looked like a pretty good and interesting action, thriller and when you hear the name Jean Claude Van Damme? how could it not be? Unfortunately the movie wasted JCVD,s potentials and pretty much his "exit" was lame. As for the rest of the cast? really awful both in terms of perfomances and casting aside. Definitely one of Van Damme's worst films that he ever put his name to. (0/10)

In the vein of the brutal heist drama Reservoir Dogs, the modern crime thriller A History of Violence, and the classic western High Plains Drifter, Swelter is a violent story of greed and retribution. it's a action movie a film with van Dame . his role it's different than other film ,you go to watch this film because is a real funny film action movie with shootings ,drama ,yeahh I'am exciting there are many good actor ,i love a new role for van Dame. good different idea ,classic western with suspense, include family drama, there are a solid climax. It is a Las Vegas history: Five men armed with submachine guns hit a casino for over one hundred million dollars.I recommend this film because it's a different action movie.a film with van Dame with anew drama role ,it's unusual .

Swelter is a great film all the way around. It's very action packed, has some humor, great dialog and awesome acting in it. This film is a modern-day crime thriller and a classic western high plains story all rolled into one. It has an awesome cast including Jean Claude Van Damme, Grant Bowler, Lennie James, Alfred Molina, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Josh Henderson, Daniele Favilli, Freya Tingley, Courtney Hope and other cast, which is very impressive and makes this film SO strong. The film is directed and written by Award Winning Director, Keith Parmer, and the storyline and films' outcome speaks to his impressive talent. Keith is also the Director and Writer of the feature film 'Mob Rules', which was acquired by Lionsgate. This is a film for everyone and should definitely be a 'must-see.' It's totally entertaining!

I had no interest in the story or the narrative. Its a story that's been done to death. Money goes missing, a rag tag team of criminals go to a dusty old town where is some money stored from a heist that went wrong. And one of the team from the heist is now a lawman, but hey, he's hiding the money, and the rest of the team want their share. The team consist of the regular crew. The boss, who's calm and collective. The one who's a bit quiet, but could go off at any minute. The obligatory famous person in a small role. And the complete nutter. The only reason why I saw this film was purely for Van Damme, as I've been a fan of his since 1989, and this has to be the poorest thing he's ever been in.And the fact of the matter is that he had no need to be in this, as his role consists of sitting in a bar, having a few drinks, walking in slow motion, and uttering lines from an inane script.Lenny James tries hard, but he is bogged down by stereotypes, crass narrative, and an overall sense of déjà Vu.All in all, its a very boring affair, and a fitting line from 'Blackadder Goes Forth', sums up the whole movie.'It started off badly, goes downhill in the middle, and the less said about the end, the better'
