It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

There is just so much movie here. For some it may be too much. But in the same secretly sarcastic way most telemarketers say the phrase, the title of this one is particularly apt.

Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Sydney White (2007): Dir: Joe Nussbaum / Cast: Amanda Bynes, Sara Paxton, Matt Long, John Schneider, Jeremy Howard: Modern day Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs where Sydney White goes to college only to be rejected and humiliated by a sorority and the acceptance she gains from seven underachievers. The Snow White touch is just a cover for a screenplay done a million times over and it hasn't improved here. Directed by Joe Nussbaum who does what he can with the familiar drivel. Amanda Bynes can be very funny and intelligent in the right material but here she is weighted down with the stupidity of bad screen writing. We know the drill and we also know that Bynes will prove much to many because she is rehearsing the same speech done by a thousand other actors in a thousand other equally bad films. Sara Paxton as the popular girl is a Xerox of several other characters. Matt Long is pitiful as the nice guy who falls for Bynes, and he is no different than any other idiot who got suckered into this type of role. Finally there is a cameo by John Schneider as Sydney's father. This is probably not the last time this story will surface but unless something changes then the appeal will remain the same much like a re-test by a student who didn't study the second time around. Rather than take its fairy tale clichés to new heights, it settles for another Xerox and it fails miserably. Score: 3 / 10

Don't get me wrong, this movie is enjoyable. I really like AB; she's rather talented and enjoyed her performance in She's the Man. This movie is a clean comedy that is actually enjoyable by all ages. The acting was great, the plot, not so much. The plot is extremely predictable. The geek stereotypes are insulting, I really doubt any girl can be as shallow as the sorority and the Snow White references weren't really subtle. They make her work on a Mac just so the hacker can feed her a "Poisoned Apple"(yes he says that). I mean come on, the idea of a movie reference is that it's SUBTLE. You don't explain it, people figure it out. But regardless the actors did make the best of a bad situation and did make it enjoyable but the plot itself really annoyed me. 4/10

Sydney White, a girl from a working class family, goes to the same college where her late mother graduated, something that makes her a legacy candidate for the Kappa sorority. Little does Sydney realize what awaits her when she makes an enemy of the powerful president of the student body, and the Kappas, Rachel Witchburn. It becomes apparently that the mean spirited Rachel does not like competition and she will make anything in her power to make life impossible for Sydney. As Sydney is rejected from joining the Kappas, she finds refuge at the Vortex, the dilapidated fraternity house that seven young geek types call home. Sydney is a good influence for the guys because she transforms their outlook, as well as give them the necessary tools to overcome their natural shyness and lack of social graces."Sydney White" is a composite of a film in which elements from other movies on the subject has been explored. Joe Nussbaum's direction of the screenplay by Chad Gomez Creasey does not bring anything new one has not already seen. The idea of going to college to learn seems secondary to most students according to Hollywood. The idea that the dork types are losers, while the failing students are cool, perpetuates a myth that is just not so. In the end, the geeks will be employing most of the cool guys who never learned anything in college at minimum wages. The peppy Amanda Bynes is seen in the title role of Sydney. Sarah Paxton, is Rachel Witchburn in all her blondness. Matt Long plays Tyler.

I really liked this movie and it was really funny. but i started freaking out, the guy who is Tyler, i was like OK? were have i seen him before? i was like i know I've seen him somewhere but were?? when i finally searched the internet him i found out he was in ghost rider and i felt totally relived. but the movie was really good i thought it was funny and i liked George =] and i like Amanda Bynes i wish they never stopped airing the Amanda show. i like when George is clapping in the gym because of the commercial of Rachel running for class president and Amanda (Sydney) was like George, No. and he stopped clapping like n-no shaking his head that was cute and funny. hehe
