Moustroll
Good movie but grossly overrated

The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Freeman
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

As a big fan of both Allison Janney and Susan Sarandon, this film was a must-watch for me. It's one of those ones that slips the mind when it first comes out, however, and I did not get a chance to view it until today. The plot was slightly thin, the characters slightly predictable, and I felt like there was a ton of filler material that should have been avoided, but all in all, it was a lot of fun. We all know that Hollywood pumps out a ton of cheap humor these days, and to some, (probably most), Tammy is no exception. However, there are times when cheap humor is acceptable and times when it's not. This is one of those times when it is. I mean, come on, this film was never meant to be an Oscar winner or even on the lips or fingertips of some high ranking critic. Even with its mix of dirty jokes, uncomfortable moments and cliché-ridden situations, there is so much more beneath the surface. The two aforementioned actresses completely nailed their roles (especially Sarandon as the hard drinking, no expenses spared grandma) and I must also give props to Kathy Bates and Sandra Oh. It's not every day that a plethora of big name actors lend their talent to lesser-known productions and I think it's highly admirable of all these fine women, as they clearly wanted to make a film that really spoke to their souls. Melissa McCarthy deserves the biggest mention of all, as she co-wrote the film with her husband, (who also directed it), and if you know anything about McCarthy, she is nothing if not feisty and fun loving in a commanding way. I give it 6 stars. It's definitely not anything special but if you want to relax, escape from the daily grind of life and enjoy a real silly film with real heart, Tammy is a pretty great choice.

I usually like Melissa McCarthy, but this movie is crap. It was hard to watch because there was no suspense or a funny line. There was only one funny scene and it's maybe one of the worst film i have ever seen.I can not recommend this film, stay away from it!

We all love Melissa and of course the other great actors, but come on,casting crew: Melissa was 44, Alison (her movie mother) 55 and Susan(her movie granny) 68 at the time the movie was made. That is just plain disrespectful to the audience to create family lineage here. From the get-go seeing Susan Sarandon as Melissa's grandmother was plain disturbing. With another cast it would have been a lot more believable and thus funnier. And I really don't understand why one cannot write a short and sweet review here, but one has to fill ten lines. It does not make any sense in the day and age of twitter. Please, stop the insanity.
Chappy Watched
I do believe that Melissa McCarthy is a good and funny actress but she seems to just be playing the same thing over and over lately and Tammy is no different. The cast is top notch with Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Allison Janney, Dan Aykroyd, Toni Collette and Sandra Oh joining McCarthy but that still doesn't help it from being a crap movie! There are some laughs but they are easily forgettable, the story is predictable and the movie as a whole is only marginally better than Identity Thief.Watched once but will never watch again.
