It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Sanjeev Waters
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

This doc deals with the creation of the original 1979 film. I geeked out over the obscure items included in this documentary, including glimpses of a few cut scenes and unused footage that I've never seen appear in any previous presentation. There have been numerous documentaries about "ALIEN" and the franchise, and this one focuses primarily on the production and direction of the film. There is only one brief moment with Sigourney Weaver, and the rest of the discussion is mainly with Ridley Scott, Walter Hill, Dan O'Bannon and others. Some of the more interesting comments come from H.R. Giger himself, who seems both grateful and bitter about his association with the "ALIEN" films.

I bought the Alien Legacy five video pack which included all the Alien films; Alien, Aliens - Special Edition, Alien 3, and Alien Ressurrection. The pack also included the documentary The Alien Legacy. It's a real treat for Alien fans and goes deep into the making of the original Alien. Has interviews and deleted scenes.

This extremely fascinating, long, and entertaining look at the making of Alien tells a great story on how two "Zeros" became "Heroes". Check it out its fun!
