The plot takes place in Lebanon. A young Muslim girl Ida runs away from her small village to escape from her mother's drunkenness and start all over again in the big city. There she meets the charismatic European Hans, she thinks she has found salvation, peace and love in him. At first it seems that they are the perfect couple. Hans proposes to Ida and moves in with her. Ida is happy. She is in love and does not want to notice how Hans is gradually changing. The climax of the film is Ida's rejection of religion. "If I do this, will everything be the same as before?" asks Ida. "Of course, my love, it will be even better," Hans replies. Further events in the film develop rapidly and unexpectedly.
