Cunninghamolga This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
Sarita Rafferty There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
itsjustaaro_1 I was really quite caught in the charm behind this film when I slipped it on Netflix. A previous film done in CGI about the same subject really left kind of a sour taste in my mouth, and was hoping that if more stories in the future about war pigeons came around in the future there'd be better ones. Thankfully this one came around - great proof that you can still do quality animation without force-feeding it with pop songs and other distractions. Seldom does a film ever capture the essence of truly traditional animation or at least ones from the early 2000's to late 90's like this one; the colors are bright but never blinding, the characters all carry a role in the story without one overshadowing the other. The story is straightforward and never loses sight of itself. A 6.3 rating, for all of this? If not a 10, at least give it a 9 for effort! When a traitor threatens to lead a team of war pigeons to a trap, it takes a genius mouse and a farmhouse of critters to deliver an SOS so the army could pull out before it's too late. Netflix's list of cartoons tend to vary from absolutely atrocious (Sir Billi, I'm looking at you again) to the modest (Legends of Oz) with stuff that tend to deliver on their 5-out-of-10 ratings. But this was a very heartfelt effort that goes to show you that once in awhile you'll find a hidden gem that can deliver a good story, with good visuals, and memorable moments. Hollywood, if you're listening, maybe it's time you take notes.
