Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
Yazmin Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
jcbhyde-97420 I thought the movie was outstanding until it reaches the final scenes. For me the finish felt lazy and incomplete, I would have liked to see a more decisive outcome. Otherwise a great movie. The suspense and intensity earlier in the movie make this a good choice irrelevant of the fact the ending leaves much to be desired. The first movie in a long while that I have seen Halle Berry I and I was impressed with her performance, the acting felt authentic and at least for me helped get into the feel of the movie.
cmovies-99674 PROS: The best attribute that the movie has was it's ability to have amazing actors play difficult roles. In many horrors you get to see peoples true emotions when they are about to die, but you never get a zoomed in looked on what they look like; only a brief overview. THE CALL really dives into and analyzes the rawness of these emotions, and uses them as a platform to propel the other parts of the film, such as the build up of tension. The actors were able to showcase this quality in a way that I would say most others couldn't. Which was helped a lot, because the build up of tension relied heavily on the connections and emotions made previous in the film. These connections were clear and provocative.CONS: A mistake that could so vividly be seen was the amount of plot holes in the story. There were a bunch of times where I asked how or why that could even happen, and that frustrated me because it couldn't happen. The movie itself was very thrilling, but there was tons of things that left big question marks in my head after the movie ended. Oh, I also want there to be a sequel!www.chorror.com
nerpco The Call Starring Halle Berry is a Thriller following Jordan, a 911 operator that has been given the task of saving a girl on the line that has been kidnapped. Right off the bat, the movie is fun and intriguing all the way to the end, and the movie never had me bored as it never really slows until the final act and climax, only for it to come back with a gripping conclusion, albeit a bit unrealistic.Besides the ending, the movie is rather realistic, especially when it comes to the overall topic, which is of course; kidnapping, and I feel like this movie does justice to the sensitive topic, because not only is this movie very intense, but at times it really can get emotional, and how it shifts from both segments are very well done and adds on the rising action all the way to the final act.The Call is a blast no matter how you look at it, it's nothing stunning or Oscar-winning, but it really captivates you very well with its realism and tension, it's the kind of movie you would watch with a group of friends. It gripping and keeps everyone on the edge of their seats until the very end.
blanche-2 I'm old enough to remember Halle Berry as a teenager on "Knots Landing." She's morphed into an old-fashioned Hollywood star -- a wonderful actress, beautiful, and glamorous. I don't think she's gotten the roles she should have since her Oscar win, but in "The Call" she gives a full-throttled performance.A young girl, Casey, calls her from the trunk of someone's car. Jordan fights to keep her wits about her and Casey's as there is an attempt to figure out where she is (it's a burn phone) and identify the kidnapper. It's a life or death situation, and your heart will be in your throat every second.Very exciting, suspenseful, and thrilling movie that towards the end becomes more like a horror film and is somewhat of a let-down. During the film we not only learn some incredible techniques to use when in danger, but we also learn how a 911 operator works and under what conditions.I don't want to give away the end, but though I loved this film and thought everyone was terrific, the ending deviates from the realism that has been set up previously.Abigal Breslin does an amazing job as Casey; you pull for her every second. Michael Eklund as the villain is sensational; Michael Imperioli from "The Sopranos" appears in this, as does Roma Maffia from Nip/Tuck. Gorgeous Paul Chestnut plays a police officer involved with Jordan. This is the first film from this studio, WWE, that has ever been nominated for an award. In fact it was nominated for 11; Eklund won a Leo Award for Best Supporting Actor. It's a beginning. Let's hope this studio continues onward and upward.
