kimberlydawn This show is so awful. It is so cliché and boring and glaringly FAKE! It's like the show and every person in it is made out of plastic. Nobody seems REAL...and nothing seems believable! A 16 year old girl getting an internship in Manhattan? Yea, right! Showing an errant strange woman suddenly making "fast friends" with Carrie in a department store, then having the two go on a SHOP-LIFTING SPREE TOGETHER, rife with giggles? Gee...great message for the young teens this show seems to be geared for! Sausage in the key hole? GAG! Who wrote this garbage...how does it even make it on TV? And yes, the round faced Carrie. Yes, round heads are in style...just like every Disney princess...great that the media decides what shape HEAD is in style for girls, isn't it? Pretty sick if you ask me. They deliberately did NOT want someone who would resemble a young SJP...how messed up is that? So disappointed, I went back to watching The Gilmore Girls, which I've already seen a million times....
isajademarilyn You cannot expect SATC wit with Carrie's diary on TheCW. It's not HBO and not aimed at the same viewers. I can understand the hard core Sex and the City fans disappointed by the changes in the story of Carrie, simply they kept only Carrie's spirit to built the character, to serve the story.Feels like they changed her family background to better accommodate the story. Being raised by her father and having a sister close in age, makes more room for Carrie's young relationships. With a mother and no sister, she would have shared much more with her and less "time" for her friends. With this new family background, she is already propelled in the NY and fashion world that she cannot find or share at home. I was very glad that for once a show for younger audience didn't picture young girls as we've seen too much, brainless, wearing minuscule dresses and spiky heels all day, to show their super skinny shapes. Characters here are much more real and it's a breath of fresh air.The 80s set is fun, even if I don't recall some styles. Music of course is great and overall I enjoyed the show.
emylie-omalley 'The Carrie Diaries' is most definitely one of my favorite TV shows - I love it! It actually surprises me that it doesn't have as many viewers as TV shows like 'The Vampire Diaries' as I love both TV shows and I don't have a bad thing to say about it. I would definitely recommend anyone to watch 'The Carrie Diaries' I have already done so to many of my friends. I hope 'The Carrie Diaries' continues, I would love another season, lets hope they renew it for season 3!If you haven't done already I suggest you watch 'The Carrie Diaries', I would watch it all over again!P.S. I'm not the only one who loves 'The Carrie Diaries'; after recommending it to many of my friends they all loved it too! Most of my friends watched both seasons in the space of either one day or two days max - it's definitely one to keep you hooked!
phd_travel No matter how well intentioned "Carrie Diaries" is, things just do not gel with Sex and the City. I don't think SATC fans will like this series.Major miscasting: First of all Anna Sophia Robb's facial features are too different from Sarah Jessica Parker - her round eyes and heart shaped face make her completely unimaginable in the role of a young Carrie. There must have been a young actress more similar to SJP. Background inconsistencies: The story suffers in that the family background isn't right for the character of Carrie Bradshaw. I know SATC hardly showed any of Carrie's family but what they have now just isn't right. A sullen younger sister is so wrong - Carrie never mentioned a sister in the whole SATC. Should have been an only child. Her father also seems too upper middle class for Carrie's bohemian persona.Kudos to the production for creating an 80s Manhattan - can't be that easy. The friends are mildly interesting, the slut, the gay guy etc. bring to mind an earlier Samantha and Stanford. Her love interest Austin Butler isn't that cute. Overall it's a series that shouldn't have been made.
