StunnaKrypto Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
davideo-2 STAR RATING: ***** Saturday Night **** Friday Night *** Friday Morning ** Sunday Night * Monday MorningAfter the events of the last film, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is living a quiet existence as a taxi driver, whilst still putting his lethal skills to use as a defender of the weak and powerless. Meanwhile, a home invasion, resulting in the deaths of a couple in Brussels sets in motion a chain of events that plunges McCall into a deadly battle for survival, reuniting him with his old comrade York (Pedro Pascal), who may hold more of a key to things than it seems.2014's filmic revamping of the hit TV show from the 1960's/80's?!? (I honestly don't know!!!) The Equalizer was a highly worthwhile venture, definitely the best action film I've seen in a hell of a long time, an opinion that seems to have been generally shared by everyone. It was one of those films that was just crying out for a sequel, even though it was almost guaranteed to be nowhere near as good, even with the original director, Antoine Fuqua, returning to the chair. Somehow, it's lead star Washington who seems to have cheapened himself the most by tacking on to this vulgar exercise. The action remains as brutal and unflinching as the first instalment, and Washington successfully replays the methodical, precise, soft spoken hardman. There's also a well staged finale set during a hurricane. Unfortunately, the clear cut, straightforward story that made the original so wonderful, has been replaced here by a vague, ambiguous tale, that you will struggle to call a plot. Fuqua seems to forget he's making an action movie, and instead tries to zoom in on some misplaced human drama, with McCall trying to help old Jewish guy Sam (Orson Bean) and misguided street kid Miles (Ashton Sanders.) This might not have been so distracting if it had been a little more condensed, and not seemingly the main focus of the film. Inevitable seems to sum this one up. It's inevitable it was made, it's inevitably nowhere near as good as the first film and it's inevitable I went to see it anyway, when I could have just stayed at home and watched the original again. **
elementalchris39 Went to watch this movie over mission impossible because i was too late for tickets, i heard the first one was good and i was with my cousin and we said "F it", that was an "F it" i will always regret, to start off i came in with a mindset of oh denzel washington being a badass mofo its gonna be lit, nope quite opposite, the first 10 mins had action, after that it went downhill, it had a very all over the place story line, i swear tg their was only like 4 action scenes the whole movie, beginning, one with some rich guys in an apartment, one in a car that had nothing to do with the plot, and the last showdown and thats IT, well as far as i remember, on my mom i slept through the movie after the final showdown cuz the theater had heated recliner seats, very boring, very all over the place plot (you really had to pay attention to know whats going on) and i dont want to be paying attention to no action movie, smhhh i wish i got a refund but the nap i took was bomb so i wont complain, when it comes on TV its gonna be a good background movie to do stuff around the house, this is my first review hope u guys liked it
Jeanne Francoise Dear action lovers, The Equalizer 2 is not so popular in Indonesia, because it cames up at the same time with Mission Impossible 4 and Christopher Robin, and yes Denzel Washington is old enough to be the main figure in the movie poster. So when I chose to watch this movie, I didn't expect anything, but then I am really really entertained. Denzel is still stunning like hell. His actions I think are all original without stuntmen. The main story of this movie is about the investigation of a crime scene that leads to other big crimes. The way the Director lead the audience is so smooth but sure. We can not blink our eye because each scene is connected to each other. The cinematographer are quite professional to do grammar of the scene because audience can not guess who is responsible for all crimes, yet we knew that Denzel is the only one hero here. I am not familiar about the first movie of Equalizer, but it seems that the appearance of Denzel here is the continuity of his role on the first part. This movie is for adult because there are many hard language and blood scenes. I recommend this movie for your weekend; really intimate, tense, sensational, unpredictable!!
arkur I didn't expect too much for this sequel when sawing the movie trailer. But when I actually see the movie this week, I can not move my eyes away from screen. It so intents and enjoyable. It is even better than the first movie... Great Job!!
