BroadcastChic Excellent, a Must See
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
suzybyrnes Great SF movie. Wonderful style. Crazy characters. Excellent production design. I have loved it for we years. I have watched this movie at least once a year. Love it.
nelly-65619 The end of the 90's. The time when Hollywood began to experience the age of illness of the quality of summer blockbusters. And then - France shows what the American cinema of them, with permission to say, taught. And moreover - it is possible to leave a powerful mark in the history and hearts of the audience of the whole world. And we should be grateful to Luc Besson, a talented person, to whom we should also be grateful for Nikita (film and TV series), a series"Taxi" (but not the recent 5th part), "The Transporter" and an indisputable masterpiece - «Leon: The Professional».The film has become famous for its simple but fascinating plot, the best techniques from the best examples of the Space Opera, which can easily be believed to be a bright and protracting world, references to other representatives of the genre (Star Wars, Alien and Metropolis), a philosophical message, and even some elements from superhero comic books, and this film can fall in love with the current audience of the era of feminism and comic book movies, which makes it similar to the only (I hope for now) success of DC Cinematic Universe - «Wonder Woman». And if so - we will begin to disassemble the characters from the real main star:Milla Jovovich - The Fifth Element/Leeloominaï Lekatariba Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat/Leeloo. She is the real gem of this film! The most beautiful being, who besides her beauty and hair falls you in love with her versatility. She was created as a superhero for the whole universe, but remains a living girl with real emotions. He rejoices in the little things of life, but when the debt calls out, she will give rebuff to the evil. Likes fun, but also in her eyes can be serious and thoughtful. On the face like a sincere smile, and tears of pain and fear. With great strength, but no less than a great vulnerability. All these aspects make her a very unique heroine. Which as a girl is stuck and surviving in the jungle (and wear is what the inhabitants of this jungle gave her). With the amendment that these "jungles" are metal and with their own laws, which our heroine will have to learn for life here. We, together with her, get acquainted with this world, which helps to compare both girls and boys. But she succeeds with variable success, she finds her own style, knows a lot of amazing things, and, like us, falls in love with this world. But she also has to comprehend one heavy and terrible thing - a war! First physically, and then morally. From what to live as a weapon becomes pain. But in the end - she manages to grow to the point for which she was not created, to find love, meaning and happiness, and at the same time, strength to protect life! Sadly, of course, that after this film, Milla went on to star in the "Resident Evil", each part of which merged her soul and potential. But this role still remains many beloved and iconic. Her character is my first love, and forever! She is a pride for France, like the same Wonder Woman for America, and Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell for Japan. Favourite female character ever! But our heroine would not be able to find the strength against the Absolute Evil, if not ...Bruce Willis - Korben Dallas. Charismatic, cool, reliable and ... cool! In fact - science fiction version of John McClane, only without the "Yippee Ki Yay", but with a cool "toys." His character is tired of life, but acquaintance with Leeloo, also influenced him, as her acquaintance with him. What shows - Love gives strength to life! And it causes him a little envy.(Already Oscar-winner) Gary Oldman - Jean Baptiste Emanuel Zorg. Cool heroes should have - tough villain. Despite the fact that he and Korben did not meet for the whole film, and Leeloo did not even exchange a couple of quotes. He realises that he is a monster, but he considers himself a necessary monster. Colourful, gallant, and ingenious.Ian Holm - Vitto Cornelius. A wonderful actor, who in this film is no less remarkable role. A sort of Obi-Wan Kenobi, though without bond with the Force. And of course - Chris Tucker - Ruby Rod! Genius on the verge of insanity! Each of his sons is filled with insane energy, extravaganza extravagance and an X-smile! All that can be said about him is SUPER! SUPER GREEN!!!But this world is no less attractive. Well-designed models of cities, transport and ships. Colourful scenery. Costumes for the authorship of Jean Paul Gaultier, which makes any character unique. And the creatures that live in this world are Mondashovans and Malgalors. Early George Lucas (who before special editions of the original trilogy of "Star Wars", and prequels, respectively) can be proud of them! The film perfectly balances between philosophy and humour. Between light and dark moments. Between fun and sadness. He is practically devoid of boring moments and sagging. A nit-picking level "Not Malgalors, not Leeloo, not Zorg thought of testing that empty box" - very petty nit-picking.In short - this is one of my favourite films for me, which certainly should be a place in the top five (if, when I decide to make, of course)! With a fascinating and not sagging plot, the best movie heroine in history, the perfect balance between philosophy and fun, a delectable world and a wonderful aftertaste after every viewing! Ideal entertaining movie! The only thing that upsets (I hope, not only) me is that the universe has not received the proper expansion. After the movie, we got 2 games (one is bad, and the second one may like it), and that's all. I'm not asking for complete sequel, since the director and the main stars are not very good (if they do not decide on the prequel about the past Leeloo). An ideal place for the continuation and expansion of the universe is comic books. I am sure that after the salvation of the world Leeloo will not want to rush to go under the crown. The main thing is to collect the experienced screenwriters, and versatile artists with their beautiful style, which should ideally suit the world of the film (and our Leeloo, of course). And most importantly - that all of them had a strong love for the source. And then Leeloo in comics can compete in popularity even with the Wonder Woman. And now comics can continue the various stories of other cult films. If they have done in this form suitable extensions "Back to the Future", "Big Trouble in Little China" and "Fight Club" (and «Blade Runner» and did get a decent game), why no one is trying to continue and expand the history of the "Fifth Element"? I just do not understand. But - I continue to believe and wait!...I hope we'll meet again, Leeloo. Continue to love and protect this world, our beautiful The Fifth Element...10/10
peterdickerson I just saw Le cinquième élément on the big screen for a 20th Anniversary screening. It was spectacular as always, but amazing on the giant screen. This film has a tight story, great action sequences, believable villains, likable heroes, and it is so funny while everyone is in great peril at the same time. Bruce Willis and Mila Jovovich are fantastic together. As my title says, the film is worth seeing for the costumes alone.
swilliky Luc Besson created a wild futuristic universe two decades ago that was fun with a solid good vs. evil story. When a hidden weapon is found amidst the pyramids before the start of the World Wars, an alien race flies down to retrieve it and starts an order of priesthoods that would pass the knowledge down of a holy weapon to fight evil. In the very colorful future, Corbin Dallas (Bruce Willis) drives a taxi having given up his life as a fighter pilot. Absolute evil takes the form of a growing black ball that destroys military spaceships. As the priest, Father Vito Cornelius (Ian Holm) awaits of the fifth element with President Lindberg (Tommy Lister), Jean-Baptist Emanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman) sends shape-shifting aliens called Mangalores to shoot down the ship and retrieve the four elemental stones. The only survivor of the crash is recreated in a Neurolab into Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) and she breaks out. Her escape sends her crashing down into Corbin's taxi that leads to a wild flying car chase that holds well with special effects these twenty years later.Zorg is angry when he finds the case empty without any stones and tricks the aliens into blowing themselves up with some crazy rifle. Corbin brings Leeloo to Cornelius who helps decipher Leeloo's language that the stones are hidden with an opera singer on a paradise cruise off the planet. Zorg summons Cornelius to find out where the stones are but his bargaining does not go as planned. The evil blob calls Zorg ordering him to find the stones. Corbin finds out he is fired as he finds out he is being recruited for a mission to go to Fhloston Paradise. Unfortunately, Cornelius and Leeloo show up and then the police. The police capture his neighbor but the aliens steal the captive neighbor. Cornelius knocks Corbin over the head stealing the cruise ticket. Corbin accepts the mission and meets David (Charlie Creed-Miles) and Leeloo there, getting aboard.Check out more of this review and others at swilliky.com
