I saw this short in the oddest place--aboard an Air France airplane. It and many other shorts are included with its in-flight entertainment."The Finger" ("Le Doigt d'Honneur") is a short and nasty little film. Now I am NOT being critical when I say this--and I LIKE how dark this comedy is. It begins with a dead man lying in his coffin and the wake is about to begin. One of the man's grown children, the daughter, is not all that shook up about his death. In fact, as his body lies there, she begins admiring the large gold ring on his finger. Why should he take this to his grave? It's worth money and he wasn't much of a father. At first, her one brother is totally shocked...the other much less so. And soon the trio are trying desperately trying to get the ring off the corpse's hand. And then, they get the bright idea of cutting off the finger to get the ring...and then something goes amiss. This is a well made film. It looks very professional and the acting is quite nice. My only reservation, and it's a small one, is that I predicted very early on what would eventually happen. It's a funny twist but no an unexpected one. Well worth seeing.
