everything you have heard about this movie is true.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

I don't even know why this movie was made. The plot is totally unoriginal, and the acting is painful to watch! I don't know how many times I heard one of the actor's/actress' lines and went: "WHAT? That's stupid!" You want an example? "If it makes a child happy, it's always the right thing to do." Excuse me? If a child wanted to go bungee jumping off a jumbo jet without a bungee cord because it would make them happy would you let them? "If you don't know what it is, how can you be afraid of it?" Hmmm, well believe it or not, people are usually scared of things that are unknown to them.On to the bad acting. I have to say, although the kids acting is just downright excruciating, the adults are way worse. Put yourself in the mother's position: your children have just stolen your car and you have no idea where they are. What's your initial reaction? I'll bet it doesn't involve showing no emotion and saying (in a monotone voice, I might add) "Oh no. The kids are gone and so is the car." And that's just the tip of the iceberg. On the upside, though, it's hilarious!

Saying this movie has bad acting is being unfair to bad actors. My wife walked into the room and remarked on one of the child actor's apparent "issues" but then realized that it was just a very bad performance. But, all the talent (with the exception of the eldest son) in this movie is on an equal, very bad level. This includes the writing and direction and editing and art direction and everything else so one really can't blame the kids. This is an after school movie that couldn't find a school to go after. On the other hand, my 9 year old watched the whole thing and he can be a tough sell. Go figure...

As far as Kid Actors, you can't get much better. Maybe "The Sixth Sense" or "Road to Perdition" but those are not for kids. The plot might be a little far fetched but what movie isn't? It is refreshing to see how little kids can entertain us old folks for an hour and a half. I was holding my breath and almost passed out when the little runts entered the haunted house. So scary, so well filmed I could only scream aloud, "Wow that's some good stuff"! It reminds me of how "The Exorcist" made me feel: the nervous sweat, the rapid heartbeat, and the dry mouth. The only cure for what I got would be a quick release of the sequel. Anyhow, I loved this movie so much I bought the video and recommend all kids under fifteen to go out and buy this silly little flick. Peace Out.

Give these kids a break! I thought the two girls and the red headed boy did a very good job. There were some weaker performers within the movie, but it does not diminish the quality of their performances. It was refreshing not to have to worry about language or sexual situations in a kids' movie. There were a lot of diversions which could muddy the plot for small kids, and I thought the style of the director kept the kids a little "too organized," ie, kids tend to run not walk when they are excited and rarely stand in perfect lines. Overall, it was refreshing to see a movie without special effects in which the kids actually thought about someone other than themselves and were able to work together as friends.
