I felt compelled to write a review of this oddly moving little documentary piece, since nobody else had done it. After watching it, I realized I had not been so touched by watching something in a long time. I've been watching a lot of short films lately, and none of them came close to the emotional impact this had on me. It's about the mysterious appearance of gnome houses and props appearing in a forest in Overland Park, Kansas, with no one able to figure out how they got there or who is responsible. Nevertheless, these whimsical creations spread joy throughout the community. We see interviews with different people and families, about how they view and are affected by Firefly Forest, as it comes to be known.... aaand that's about as much as I can say without spoiling it. Look, I love gritty, dark, post-modern stuff as much as the next guy, but this one just hit home for me. Seriously, go watch it. It's available on Youtube. But be warned: You will cry.
