Inclubabu Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Bergorks If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
Sanjeev Waters A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
eltsr-1 This movie reminded me of the OLD Hollywood factory studio action kid cliff hangers (Gasp! for air...) that I saw weekly when a kid myself. Except they were all chained together in one showing and it had a script: Cecil B. DeMille, D.W. Griffith. I mean MORE than just a shooting script & some stock old dependable tomes. It's production values are very high rather than just stunts to hook kids. Great special effects & story continuity of seemingly disparate characters, animals & even props. I like Eddie Murphy. I like his genius for letting us in on the joke. He can break the fourth barrier without hurting or stopping the movie and in fact emphasizing something important to the movie's if not his own POV. No small gift of acting talent: Buster Keaton. The movie as a story peaks frequently like a good serial but finally all at once without the genre's space-time deceptions. At times the writer says very important things about children & how adults should regard them. I've been to Asia & Nepal couple of times on military & diplomatic missions during war & just the Cold War. As an adult supervising my kid & his friends on a Saturday afternoon, several characters delivered lines about Murphy's actions that were distracting. A Buddha-like character said after Murphy diminished the importance of Murphy's character's defining actions during an action scene, "(Individual) Americans should be aware of how powerful they are in the world!" Like the Hollywood star: Eddie Murphy. God Bless the United States of America. My kid & his friends enjoyed it as well.
Fluke_Skywalker Plot; A man who specializes in finding missing children is tasked with recovering "The Golden Child", a young boy who is prophesized to be the savior of mankind. This is a weird movie. And also terrible. This is a weird and terrible movie. With star Eddie Murphy coming off of the smash hit Beverly Hills Cop, it's no surprise that he and director Michael Ritchie more or less try to make this Beverly Hills Monk, with Murphy essentially porting over his Axel Foley character in all but name. Unfortunately the material here is vastly inferior, and even Murphy's shtick isn't enough to spackle over this disjointed mess of a movie.
scorpiowriter A Classic 80's film. I was born in the late 70's and grew up in the 80's, and they just don't make movies like they did back then. The lightheadedness, silly sense of humor, adventure, magic, fantasy...from moves like Legend with Tom Cruise to Willow, Labyrynth, Krull, The Beast Master, The Dragonslayer, all the Conan movies with Schwarzenegger....they just don't make these awesome, majestic, escapist films anymore. Movies where you are taken to another world and time and magic is real. This is a great movie. It has everything from humor to adventure, romance, suspense, supernatural horror. It's just a great movie, very entertaining and an upbeat and uplifting ending. Watch with your kids, then watch the others or better yet, buy on DVD. I personally love having a physical copy of a movie with the cover art more than downloads which seem 'unsubstantial.'
richieandsam THE GOLDEN CHILDI like this movie. It has been a lot of years since I last watched this film, and even though it was still very good... it was not as good as I used to think it was.Eddie Murphy is a legend. I love his movies from the 80s. He was so funny. Don't get me wrong... he still is, but he is more family friendly now. I thought he was funnier when he was swearing etc... his stand up gigs (Delirious and Raw) were brilliant. The Golden Child was funny, but not as good as some of Eddies others. There were a lot of special effects in this. They were great at the time, but these days they look pretty weak. The story was good though. I liked the idea of the knife and the way Eddie has to get it. The bad guy, played by Charles Dance, was awesome. I loved the way he was so British and calm through the whole film. He played the part really deadpan. I also loved the creature he turned into near the end. The only thing I am slightly disappointed about, was they killed him off too quickly. They could have stretched the ending out a bit. It seemed to end very quickly. But I love a lot of 80s films... I honestly believe they were brilliant. The look of them, the stories, the effects and the soundtracks were great. You can almost always tell an 80s movie from the background score of a film.I will give this film 7 out of 10.A great movie, but not as good as Coming to America, Beverly Hills Cop, Trading places etc...For more reviews, please like my Facebook page:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ordinary-Person-Movie- Reviews/456572047728204?ref=hl
