Softwing
Most undeservingly overhyped movie of all time??

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
FirstWitch
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.

A fake family, really reps for an unnamed corporate entity, with 2 teenage "children" move into an upper crust neighborhood, with the sole intent of selling various lifestyle brands. They have no other job. The Dad golfs daily and the Mom goes to hair salons and hot yoga classes. The kids attend school. As everyone goes about their daily life, they casually promote various upscale brands, which neighbors soon envy and purchase. They appear like the perfect family on the surface. Everyone wants to emulate their glamorous lifestyle. They are successful with sales, but over time, various glitches in the plan begin to appear. Human emotions and frailties, the natural consequences of greed, and the need for real sexual fulfillment all interfere with working for "the company". There is a death, but also a happy ending.Overall, fairly well done. It will be a little food for thought, as well as some entertainment.

The Joneses move into an upper-class suburb with the newest gadgets and the best style. Kate (Demi Moore) and Steve (David Duchovny) seem like a perfect couple but they don't have any chemistry in private. Mick (Ben Hollingsworth) is hiding his homosexuality. Jenn (Amber Heard) is slutty and tries to sleep with Steve. They are actually professional salespeople promoting their products. KC (Lauren Hutton) is their boss. Their neighbors Larry (Gary Cole) and Summer Symonds (Glenne Headly) start racking up debts to keep up with the Joneses. This is an intriguing concept but there is a decreasing return. The idea gets repetitive. The family members' personal drama is more compelling. Mick's relationship with Naomi could be interesting but his gay character can't have the easier romantic drama. It doesn't get the comedy but some of the drama works.

'The Joneses' is an odd mix. It's not that well-known, despite having a cast-fill of recognisable faces heading it. Perhaps it's a difficult film to market, as people might expect an out and out comedy, when what they get is more of a wry satire on modern consumerism in the West.Without giving away the plot, The Joneses is about - as the saying goes - 'keeping up with the Joneses' and what people will do to avoid being seen as a lesser person to their neighbour. The story manages to balance being consistently funny with a scenario that holds up over ninety minutes, while at the same time, makes you think.David Duchovny is second on the cast list to Demi Moore, but he should definitely do more comedy (his few one-liners in the X-files always added a nice comedic element to Mulder's character). He really gets all the best lines, as she plays the 'straight man' to his observations. Their on-screen children aren't as fully developed character-wise as they could have been, but they play their small roles well. The Joneses may not be an absolute classic, but it is certainly different enough to be watchable and entertaining, while at the same time making you think about a few 'what ifs?' If you like satire, then give it a try. It's an undiscovered gem.

I've never heard of this before; it's quite brilliant, and certainly better than I thought it would be. Why is it that when there finally comes a different movie, different from all the rest of the cliché crap, it doesn't get much attention? It's such a clever way to market new products, but everyone always seems to forget the nature of humans and their feelings. That's why I'm amazed at the work of actors; some slip through and get together, but the rest for the most part can have no feelings for a person, but make it look otherwise. I guess that's what you call just business - and of course things go awry. This was a very fun movie to watch. I doubt anyone would guess the ending, but that's just me maybe. I highly recommend this fun- filled movie; it just might tell you what family really is.
