Reviews

Bardlerx Strictly average movie
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Doomtomylo a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
Myron Clemons A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
Leofwine_draca This low rent Canadian hit-man thriller has received some positive reviews on this site, but I fail to see where they're coming from. This is a lacklustre effort all round, one of those films that's so cheap that most scenes seem to take place in dark rooms with just a couple of characters chatting. There's no sense of drive or urgency that a life-or-death thriller needs. LEON is an obvious reference point but this film can't be mentioned in the same review as that classic. Joe Mantegna looks as weary as the viewer becomes when watching this nonsense, and the whole plot with his daughter is a bore from beginning to end. No action, no drama, no emotion; no real point to the film whatsoever.
mud crab I am not going to be a pretend person and quote other actors/movies etc. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. In part, it was somewhat predictable, but the way it played out, made in my opinion, excellent viewing. Obvious from the start that dad and his daughter are involved in an unusual income earning lifestyle. Equally obvious that dad is trying to shelter daughter to an extent. Dad involved in something he wants to keep from daughter. Enter third main character. This one kept me guessing for quite a while - then when I finally decided to trust him - he let me down. Then it got really got interesting! Except for the tears I had to shed at the end. Like I said, bloody good movie! This one I am keeping!!!!
fiorm8453 I enjoyed most of the movie. What I do, but at the same time, do not understand is why the family let "you know who" into their family. I suppose Mantegna could have handled the situation differently, perhaps holding "you know who" hostage. This struck me as odd. But, again, it is a movie. Do not expect anything great. The actors play their roles well, especially Joe Mantegna. There are some "so-so" acting scenes but overall, a job well done. It is the plot that will keep the viewer interested through out the entire movie, not the acting. But like I said, the acting is definitely worth the viewers time. Of course, we have all seen horrible movies that make it to the theaters on a national scale, but, this movie, by no means is horrible. It keeps the viewer guessing, and with a sufficient amount of action, there really is no reason to bash this title!
cottage14 We didn't know what to hope for when we sat down to watch The Last Hit Man. The trailer sort of prepared us for more of an action film. There's plenty of action, but the real story is more internal. We got very caught up in it.There are some very funny lines and almost a screwball style to parts of the movie, especially at the start; and then it settles into a bit of a nightmare and leads to a conclusion that is at the same time satisfying and open-ended.In the "about" feature the director said that during shooting the main actors would come to him with suggestions about lines that could be cut to make the story tighter and the to tell more by saying less. The result works pretty well, even though there is a slight sag toward pathos at one point. We will certainly watch it again, and will buy copies of the DVD to share with others.LATE NEWS!~ April 2: "Last Hit Man" won Best Feature Film at the Canadian Film Festival in Toronto in March!
