Based on the popular books, the story tells of Tony who wants a friend to add some adventure to his life. What he gets is Rudolph, a vampire kid with a good appetite. The two end up inseparable, but their fun is cut short when all the hopes of the vampire race could be gone forever in single night. With Tony's access to the daytime world, he helps them to find what they've always wanted.

Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
tedg Sometimes the way a film is structured, the story is so automatic, so determined that all you can do is watch the actors. The most interesting time for me is when the actors are doing something remarkable — some representational, emotional gymnastics, or some collaborative kinematics. But most times its just as it is here, you watch the actors not because they are doing anything interesting, but that they were in interesting projects. The nature of the enterprise here (vampires, kids) references stories outside the movie, so this character- by-reference idea is natural.Pamela Gidley is the human mom. She was "the girl" in Figgis' ambitious project about space fugues: "Leibestraum."Alice Krige is the vampire mom. Fantastically attractive, she has been in both a Maddin and Quay Brothers film, both in roles that you will never forget. Here she is made up as a vampire version of Queen Elizabeth, modeled more on Jenny Runacre's Elizabeth than the portraits or more conventional looks. Check the shape of the hairline to see that yes, this is Derek Jarman's Elizabeth turned from counterculture punk to vampire queen.Richard Grant was (and will always be) Withnail, and is also burned in my mind as interloper of the most outrageous orrery in film in "Hudson Hawk."And hey, here's Anna Popplewell as the preteen love interest. We just saw her in an equally vacuous movie ("Wardrobe2") now with breasts as the teen love interest. Her development and carriage seems worlds away. How the mind wanders.Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.
ris916 The Little Vampire is a cute family movie that kids will want to watch again and again. The story is about 8yr old Tony who has moved into a new house, new neighborhood, and a new country all together. He has nightmares every night about vampires and a magic amulet that the vampires loose. Tony believes his dreams are true and has trouble making friends because of his obsession. One night, while his parents are at a business party, a little 9yr old vampire named Rudolph spots Tony with fake fangs in his mouth. He flys in, hoping that Tony will protect him from a vampire hunter, only to find out that Tony isn't a vampire at all! Tony then finds out that his dreams are real and decides to help his friend look for the amulet...Although this movie is too "cute" for teens and "boring" for adults, The Little Vampire will put a smile on kids from the age 5-11. Stewart Little kid Jonathan Lipnicki adds the perfect touch to any kids movie, while Rollo Weeks (The Thief Lord) gets his start before making many more movies within the years that have past. I was flicking through the channels when i saw it on "abc family"'s 13 nights of Halloween. It was very cute and clever, even though it took me a few minutes to clue in since i only started watching it when Rudolph is in the fireplace after being a bat. The Little Vampire is a great movie the whole family can enjoy!
shirleytemplerules I have watched this movie 5 times and I love it! It is wonderful! The jokes were gigley and i love the vampire cows! Everyone did such a wonderful job. My favorite character is Anna. This is such a wonderful movie! A must see!
eponine_13 I loved this movie. I'm a sucker for movies that remind me of my younger years, and this is definitely one of them (well, seeing as it's made for kids, that's hardly surprising). The plot was good, the bad guy wasn't scary enough to give younger kids nightmares, but unlikable enough for the slightly older children not the care that he ISN'T too frightening. Wonderful costumes too.Did anyone notice the last name of the Vampires? Sackville-Bagg? It's freakishly close to that of the Sackville-Bagginses from Lord of the Rings...
