Incannerax What a waste of my time!!!
AboveDeepBuggy Some things I liked some I did not.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Phillida Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
nicklock I thought the film at the beginning was interesting. It quickly seemed to drag on. One question I do have though. Where was the sound guy from? Southern CA.? Wondering because why would there be crickets chirping and all kinds of other crawly things making noise in the middle of winter? During the films timeframe there was snow on the ground the whole time yet you kept hearing bugs make noise.
Mihaela_Lacramioara I finally had the opportunity to watch this movie and really enjoyed it. I thought the Marsh was put together very well. For the most part, the acting was great. Gabriele and Forrest were a great team. The supporting actors and actresses played their parts well. There were good twists and turns, good effects, and little else to be asked of a low budget horror movie. The movie was genuinely suspenseful, definitely scary in spots, and full of surprises.Although the ending seemed a bit just "thrown together", I still recommend this to viewers and would watch it again.
rstef1 Well made supernatural thriller that is short on gore but still has plenty of atmosphere and scares. Though the movie does use some well-worn plot elements (i.e.: group of friends covers up crime/murder and it comes back to haunt them, literally), it does it all quite professionally. The actors are uniformly terrific, not a bad performance in sight. The special effects are done expertly and, for a change, used sparingly and to good effect. The story is well written and beautifully photographed, and the director keeps the pace up through the film, substituting mood for cheap shocks, though there are a few jump-out-of-your-seat moments. This one caught me by surprise, I wasn't sure they made them like this anymore. If you enjoyed The Others or Lady in White this film will appeal to you.
bondibox I rented The Marsh because I enjoy a good Gabrielle Anwar film. Actually, those are few and far between -- the truth is I'll watch anything she's in. I must say this is better than most of the movies she's done (likely thanks to the absence of Craig Sheffer). Her character was well defined and complex, but she seemed more curious than frightened. It made sense when she spoke about how fairy tales are supposed to give kids the willies, and that's what kids like - I had a copy of Der Struwwelpeter when I was a kid - but this film wasn't really scary or anything much more than creepy.I had braced myself for the worst, and was waiting for one of the two clichéd scenes, you know the wizened old man who says "you don't know what you're dealing with here'" or the abrasive and skeptical sheriff / authority figure who knows more than he lets on. So it was refreshing when Whittaker's character moved the plot along as quickly as it did.The opening scene was marvelous, and the scene with her therapist could have been great with some smoother editing, but the flashlight in the dark videography is worthless. The death scenes are waaay cheesy. In the end, I'd say the director pulled it off, but it was touch and go there for a while. All in all, this was a (bad) B movie, but with just enough sunk into the production to make it halfway decent.
