Colibel Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Protraph Lack of good storyline.
SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
studioAT Scarlett Johansson doesn't pop up in this sort of light comedy/romantic comedy genre much, so this is a rare occasion to see her display just how funny she can be.This isn't the best film in the world, it doesn't try to be. What it is though is a decent enough comedy, with some nice laughs along the way. It's a surprise to see that Johansson is so good at comedy and is well supported by Laura Linney in her role.If you're looking for an easy going comedy then this one has a lot going for it.
lisafordeay Scarlett Johansson teams up with her Avengers Assemble co star Chris Evans in this underrated drama about a college graduate named Annie(Johanson)who has to mind a little boy who's parents go by Mrs & Mr X(played by Paul Giamatti from The Amazing Spiderman 2 and Laura Linney)who are sorta uptight and Annie finds it hard to keep up with Mrs X's terms, while Mrs' X's husband is cheating on her with a much more younger woman. Of course Annie later meets Harvard Hottie(Chris Evans)and has a slight crush on him. So will Annie ever fit in New York City as nanny for the spoilt rotten boy who isn't too keen on Annie in the beginning of the film when he first meets her at the park. Also starring Tangled star Donna Murphy as Scarlett Johansson's mother, and Alicia Keys as Annie's friend, its not a bad film but its not that great either. The story has been done to death before, parts of it reminded me of Raising Helen meets The Devil Wears Prada but having said that if you like the actors in this film than check it out.C- 5/10The ending was sorta off for me but the rest of the film is OK.
juneebuggy This wasn't well liked by the critics but I watched it on TV and thought it was pretty good, that's mostly down to the cast though. Laura Linney is fantastic as Mrs. X, a snooty neurotic upper east side socialite and Paul Giomatti is perfect as her nasty adulterous husband. Just a pig of a man.I always enjoy Scarlett Johansson and she does a good job with the material here, her role isn't much of a stretch, even cheesy at times but she was enjoyable. The romance aspect with Chris Evans kinda took a back seat and was lost.Described as "a hilarious adaption of the bestselling novel" (I wouldn't go that far) it is however entertaining. Johansson plays 'Annie', a recent college grad who takes a job as a live in nanny for the very wealthy X's, looking after their troubled son -who I suppose was meant to be cute and precocious but for the most part I just found bratty and annoying. The story itself was okay, it didn't blow me away or anything, but it was enjoyable enough. 'Nanny' is such a nice, sympathetic character that you want to see how it all plays out for her. Watching this did make me want to read the book. 8/24/15
hellolori Very sweet. I enjoyed this movie...even broke out the Kleenex. Perfect movie for a lazy late afternoon. Hmmm... Seems I need 10 lines of text. That's silly, but here goes. Scarlett J is adorable in the movie as a brunette. She can wear anything. She's a very believable actress. I don't know the actor that plays her love interest, but well done. What a cutie and a good actor, as well. Laura Linney, as the neurotic, ever controlling, heartless, emotionally absent mommy, plays the roll of hard-hearted protagonist to the hilt. She's cold, she's wicked, she's self- absorbed, she's judgmental, lacking empathy and any maternal skills that might help make her slightly likable. And who is the a or who plays the daddy? I like him. He plays a jack-off quite well. He fit the role excellently! I realize this review isn't much help...lol... but have a great day anyway. :)
