Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Lela The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
Python Hyena The Perfect Man (2005): Dir: Mark Rosman / Cast: Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear, Chris Noth, Mike O' Malley, Ben Feldman: Teen comedy about expectations and disappointments, much like the film. Every time Heather Locklear's heart is broken she packs up her two daughters and moves. They move to Brooklyn where she is employed as a cake decorator. Hilary Duff plays her daughter who decides that if her mother is to be happy in a relationship then she should choose her mother's next date. She schemes a plan where her friend's uncle is sighted as her mother's next Mr. Right unknowingly while Locklear is overwhelmed with romantic gestures. Stupid setup leads to even stupider developments before arriving at an ending viewers have seen from afar. Directed by Mark Rosman who previously directed Duff in A Cinderella Story, which isn't much better. Here he is backed by cheap production. Duff is still appealing to a young audience here but her actions are juvenile while Locklear comes off as too gullible and unsympathetic. Then there is the unbelievable Chris Noth as the uncle used without knowing. One wonders whether he was given the same treatment during the making of this film. Ben Feldman plays the umpteenth guy with a crush on Hilary Duff. He can get in line. And let us not forget the overacting Mike O'Malley as one of Locklear's co-workers. Theme buried in a less than perfect script. Score: 2 / 10
lisafordeay Holly Hamilton(Hilary Duff) is fed up of moving around place to place as her single mother(played by Heather Locklear)is unlucky in love with men and every time she does end up with a guy it ends with heartbreak and she and her two daughters move from country to country. So in order for Holly's mom to stay in the same place, she comes up with a sneaky plan to create the perfect man for her,by emailing things to her mom and making her new friend write a letter and use her uncle(played by Chris Noth)to be the man. But problems arise when a guy in Holly's school starts to love her and she realizes that do you really need a man in your life to make you happy or your mom happy?I have been a fan of Hilary's since her 2003 days as Lizzie Maguire and as Lorraine Baker in Cheaper By The Dozen, here she's this whiny spoilt brat who's always whining and moaning about her mom and teenage stuff. The story is nice, yet the plot is all to similar to Hilary Duff's 2004 movie A Cinderella Story with the whole emailing a guy scenario, yeah like that's so exciting. The cast are OK and everything else isn't bad.Overall I did enjoy this movie but its not the best movie ever made,it got a harsh rating of 6% in Rotten Tomatoes.5/10
roberta-678-99533 I have watched this movie a few times , I thought it wasn't gonna be that good but it is , its so romantic and i love the storyline. All the characters are great too. The best part of the story line is that holly is trying to make her mum happy by being the perfect man , little does she know that the guy shes getting the info from IS the perfect man and there's a person in her school who is HER perfect man.The review before this is stupid this is a great movie , WATCH IT !This movie is kind of a chick flick though , the scene were holy sets off the sprinklers in the restaurant is amazing and the point that yeah she kept moving but now she's in a place that she loves !!! XD
Homogeek Although I have multiple issues with this movie the writing is truly a standout. Standout of disappointment. I found it hard to suspend disbelief that Holly Hamilton (Hillary Duff)would proceed with this plan of creating a "perfect man for her mother Jean (Heather Locklear)and not know of the disastrous out come. Holly even gets on the phone (covered with a dishcloth) and disguises her voice to fool her Mom and it works! There is so much that the movie makers are asking us to overlook. The Writers of the TV show Frasier were the masters of the tangle web of lies. Michael McQuown, Heather Robinson and Katherine Torpey were hoping you would not care.
