Flyerplesys Perfectly adorable
Holstra Boring, long, and too preachy.
Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
VenturousArtist The premise follows a wacky con artist targeted by a heartless hunter after purposely accepting an offer to remain alive in exchange for money. Knowing that, the film immediately shows potential to be darkly humorous and original. However, the biggest mistake this movie commits to is remaining outrageously weird, frenetic, and brainless with its material.There's more scenes pervasively pursuing lowbrow humor, stereotypes, and utter annoying nonsense. The main "protagonist" also insists contradicting his safety by obtaining more enemies and never remaining in an undisclosed location. Other characters, minor and important, are either underutilized or useless.From its beginning to its end, it's an elongated silly disaster with no redeeming qualities even for audiences with less expectations. It's restrained by its nonstop crassness, disinteresting and disposable subplots, and uncommitted premise that doesn't lead anywhere clever until the end. It's equivalent to a poorly developed cartoon turned into an expensive stage performance with no effort or adjustments.The Pest is an insect that must be permanently exterminated.
scorpiowriter Yes. All you movie snobs, this movie is slapstick, stupid, juvenile humor. And it's INCREDIBLY funny. Full of puns and play on language. John Leguizamo is hilariously obnoxious as The Pest. Love this movie. Literally has me laughing out loud even after watching it several times over the past couple of decades.
dylanpatrickbaldwin The Pest stars John Leguizamo as the titular character and Jeffrey Jones (the principal from Ferris Bueller's Day Off) as the main antagonist. However, while it is standard to list out other cast members, for this film there really is no need; The Pest is a John Leguizamo film through and through, mainly to its detriment. While the film contains the cult charm and wackiness that I can understand would appeal to others, I won't mince words by saying that whenever John Leguizamo was doing a racial impression or making a fart/dick/gay joke (an abundance of all are within this movie) I prayed that the villain would just shoot him in his annoying head. The worst part of the movie comes at the beginning, during an extremely bizarre rapping sequence with Leguizamo in the shower that made me chuckle approximately 0 times, and this is exemplary of the main problems with the film: The Pest is not funny, he's annoying. I mean the character The Pest, specifically. Because, while the film is scatterbrained, nonsensical, and replete with logical errors and puzzling actions, I actually found myself laughing quite a bit at the performances of the other characters. With a change in writing and performance from the titular character, I might have actually enjoyed this film; just a typically clichéd 90s comedy but with a bizarre premise that could land in some very intriguing situations. I'm sure that the cast and crew all found Leguizamo very funny, an assumption that is pretty much verified by Jeffrey Jones clearly trying not to laugh during an early scene in the movie. This is probably why he was clearly allowed to ad-lib so much throughout. However, while I'm sure he's a nice guy, I really can't stand him, and the only reason I'm giving this film a 3 instead of below is due to the interesting premise, the occasional funny joke, and the fact that I'm sure that it's only really my sense of humor that prevented me from enjoying this film. If you find people like Carrot Top or Robin Williams or other energetic comedians funny, you'll probably like this.
eliseo_john This movie has been my favorite comedy since it came out. I cried laughing. I think this role was perfect for John Leguizamo. And Chubs and Ninja did an awesome job. You know a movie is good when you can watch it over and over again and never get tired of it. You will never know if you like a movie unless you watch it. Rent this movie, it will be worth your time and money. The people who gave the a 1 or a 2 wouldn't know a good comedy when it slapped then in the face. I won't spoil anything for you but the movie was Hilarious with a capital H. Don't eat anything when you watch it though, you might die. I give this movie a 9 out of 10.
