Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Dorathen Better Late Then Never
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
dont-we-all-like-pie I don't think this has any spoilers, but I'll check that box just to be safe. Okay. It's a cute movie. I like it, it's definitely a great feel good movie for teenage girls/ young women. But being a Wisconsinite (born and raised) I really don't enjoy how they portray not only my state, but the people in my state. First off, we do not wear that much plaid and/or flannel and yes there is a difference. Second, I have never heard of an actual lawn mower race happening, and I'm about to graduate from a school where a few of the hicks actually drive their tractors to school at the end of the year. It's half because they like their tractors and half because it makes the whole school smell like manure. We do have tractor pulls where there's one concession stand run by our FFA members and no charming lines of hay bales. Also, that farm in the movie is just really bad. Actual farms (especially those barns) are not that clean, and I know this movie is ten years old, but that farm isn't struggling because it's family owned and run, it's struggling because they haven't invested in new, efficient equipment that ends up paying for itself. And I don't live on a farm, so I guess I could be wrong about all this, but my dad did grow up on a farm and my house is surrounded by them, so I'm probably right. Also, a farmer would never let anyone that inexperienced try to calm/direct their cows. That's a major injury and possible lawsuit on their hands. Also, her two brothers seem so... idiotic. I don't know if that was on purpose, and if it was then I don't know if it was because they're farm boys, but it really bothers me. My dad and his 13 siblings grew up on their farm, and now as adults all of them are successful and at least two of them are millionaires, just like one of my favorite neighbors, who's actually a farmer worth millions of dollars, all from working his family owned and run farm. That's about all I can think of, otherwise it's pretty cute. Just, please take everything with a grain of salt!
ctomvelu1 A throwback to old-style Hollywood movies that featured actresses like Loretta Young and actors like Larry Olivier. In fact, I recall just such a film, "The Prince and the Showgirl," with Olivier and Marilyn Monroe. Stiles is a farm girl away at college who meets an exchange student who is actually Denmark's crown prince. Of course, she doesn't find this out until much later. Weak scripting and awkward, improbable situations rely heavily on Stiles' star power. If this had been made 10 or 12 years earlier, her part would have been played by Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock. A minor trifle at best. Stiles has gone on to bigger and better things, thank God.
napierslogs "The Prince and Me" is a 'fairy-tale' romantic comedy. I tend to like romantic comedies, but only if they allow me to fall for its charms.A primary ingredient in romantic comedies, is likable characters. I should be able to see myself in the girl, and like the guy the same way she does. This film fails. In fact, these might not be characters at all. I think they are just cardboard cut-outs of good looking actors. The plot has a Danish prince Edvard leaving his royal life to attend an American University in Wisconsin. Why Wisconsin, you ask? Because he saw a girls gone wild commercial set there. Enough said. Then he meets Paige, a pre-med student. Apparently, the dominant characteristics of a would-be doctor is to be pretty and make sarcastic comments. The current state of medical education is bad enough, why fill it with nonsense like this? And why demoralize the Denmark royalty? This is when films are supposed to choose fictional conditions. What follows the story is a set of cliché jokes about university life, rich snobs, and small-town farm life. None of which are funny or romantic. Pretty near impossible to make a romantic comedy out of that.
Jay Harris This fine romantic comedy fairy tale was directed by Marths Coolidge & as usual she does a first rate job.Four persons collaborated on the screenplay. This is a familiar type story,so there are many situations & characters we all have seen many times before. I did say its a fairy tale.Luke Mobley & Julia Styles are the leads & there chemistry is delightful.James Fox & Miranda Richardson film royalty if there ever was any are the King & Queen.they are perfectly cast.UK TV actor Ben Miller is the princes aide, & is just so properly perfect,In fact the entire cast is excellent, there is not one single person you would not want to meet & know. The Rating may be PG but there is nothing really objectionable in any scene. The film was made in Canada, Denmark & the Czech Republic. All production values first rate,There is the usual song score and for a delightful change all the songs fit the mood of the scene being shown. For those that like good clean cinema & real nice people See this, you will not be sorry.Ratings ***1/2 (out of 4) 91 points (out of 100) IMDb 8 (out of 10)
