trimbolicelia Not bad mid-60's Mexican-made, Spanish-language black-and-white comedy-horror film. Sort of a remake of Hold That Ghost. Viruta and Capulina are Ok but no threat to Abbott and Costello. V and C play a couple of truckers who after some bridge is downed transport a bunch of stranded travelers along a spooky road to an uninhabited (but not empty) haunted house. Some amusing situations and silly goings-on. The DVD quality is pretty good. No sub-titles. Recommended for fans of this genre.

Leofwine_draca THE SPECTERS' ROAD is probably one of the dumbest comedies I've watched in a while (although it's still funnier than the modern-day dross that gets counted as such these days). It's a straightforward Mexican comedy horror about a group of unwary travellers travelling down a haunted road one night and finding themselves beset by spirits and unwholesome characters.The main plot progression is when the characters transfer from their carriage to a haunted mansion where they continue to find themselves haunted by various spectres (read: actors wearing zombie fright masks). This is a simple vehicle for a couple of Mexican comedy actors in the Bob Hope and Bing Crosby mould and it's badly dated by modern standards: cheap-looking, with poor production values and extremely unfunny humour. The best I can say about it is that the Gothic trappings are portrayed quite efficiently. Otherwise, here's a typical gag from the movie: a guy dodges blows from a ghost and sticks his tongue out repeatedly until the ghoul thumps him in the stomach. Yes, it's that kind of movie.
