The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

This is a great documentary of how the don't ask don't tell policy affected many service members but also gives a good history timeline of how the ban on LGBT service members even started. The only thing I believe that could have been done better, is to highlight other circumstances for service members who had to lie about who they were. For example, a lesbian is sexual assaulted and cannot publicly testify that she did not want to be intimate with the predator because of her sexual orientation. On the other side of the coin, men who assaulted could not come forward because they would have been ousted and/or ridiculed for being gay, and probably dishonorably discharged instead of receiving support and advocacy.
