In 2007, in the midst of the drought and water shortages, the NSW State government has unveiled plans to tap into and recycle millions of litres of water trapped in a network of abandoned train tunnels just beneath the heart of Sydney. However the government suddenly goes cold on the plan and it is not made public why. There is talk of homeless people who use the tunnel as shelter going missing, even though the government states that there are no homeless people in there. This, and the silence from the officials and ministers, leads a journalist, Natasha to begin an investigation into a government cover-up. She and her crew Pete (Producer), Steve (Cameraman) and Tangles (Sound Technichian) decide to investigate the story in the tunnel.

a_baron Once upon a time, horror films featured castles, period dress, and exotic scenery. In this age of manufactured austerity they appear instead to entail small groups of people walking around in the dark screaming occasionally. Just as a big budget does not guarantee a good film, neither does a small one guarantee rubbish. The 2015 film "The Hoarder" was basically a group of people walking around in a storage facility, and that was by no means an inferior offering. Sadly, this one is. Set in Sydney, Australia of all places, a small group of journalists decide to investigate the tunnels under the main railway station. This is due to a recent announcement by the government of the day. There is a suspicion that homeless people might be living in them, so if these tunnels are used to augment the water supply, there will be a few drowned down and outs turning up, not to mention a scandal. So off go our intrepid hacks, and what do they find? Someone or something is living down there, and whatever it is, it is not very friendly. It remains to be seen if this film or the entire genre was inspired in whole or in part by "The Blair Witch Project", but however enigmatic this particular offering, be prepared for a fair amount of boredom, though at least the soundtrack is thematic.
Kurt Smillie Carlo Ledesma's "The Tunnel" is a first class example that all you need to for some great horror is some awesome camera-work and an even better script. Too many movies rely on huge million dollar budgets and first class-CGI and come up relatively short of being great or even good movies in some respects.Natasha ( Bel Delia ) is a reporter that is working on a story that she feels is going to be make her career. We're introduced to Natasha's crew early on with Peter ( Andy Rodoreda ) seemingly in a constant power struggle with Natasha. Tangles ( Luke Arnold ) and Steve ( Steve Davis ) are the goofs on the crew and make up the rest of the party venturing into the tunnel. Australia is going through a water crisis and the government comes up with a plan to tap into the huge reservoirs that are trapped in Sydneys' underground tunnel system. Natasha senses that it could be displacing the homeless that use the tunnels as an escape from the city that has forgotten about them. Sound like a setting for a great horror film? You're not wrong. Eventually Natasha and her film crew start to uncover a much bigger story. It seems that the homeless that use the tunnels are starting to disappear and no- one knows where or really seems too care. The government seems to be turning a blind eye and no one is allowed near the reservoirs as Natasha finds out the hard way when her contacts turn her down. Eventually when they get into the tunnels, they find out the hard way that some stones are better left unturned.Without giving too much away, the "creature" is shown sparingly and more of the terror and horror come from the limited light sources and the viewers' imaginations. My friends and I still have arguments to this day as to what exactly was hiding in the tunnels as the shots are somewhat vague, but extremely effective. The movie starts off on a slow burn, setting up the events that ultimately lead to a life or death struggle down in the tunnels. The Tunnel is a movie that is best viewed with an open mind and a couple friends. Classic indie horror at it's best, it's also proof of the quality of horror movies that Australia has been churning out in the last few years. Although not as famous as "The loved ones" or "Storage" , This movie is a prime example that not all scary things come with a million dollar price tag.One of my all time indie favourites... Watch this movie and you'll be looking over your shoulder every time you venture into a concrete tunnel in the park alone.7.5/10Stay scared friends.Kurt Smillie.
atinder This is a re-watch, I have not seen it, since it first came out online!, I Was no sure what to make of it at the time. This time around and kind of felt the same after wards and I think I liked it less then I did before. The movie dose take a while to get going, the build up first forty minutes of movie, the build was how to find way to get there, to make story about the Tunnel. I actually did not mind the build up and you get to know them and actually care about them in this movie. they all seemed to work really well together. As soon as they enters the tunnel and that when the movie start to movie a bit forward (And those Tunnels looked far to clean or was that just me!) And soon as one of them Friend seem to going missing, that when the movie really picks up speed and dose not stop until the end.The chase scenes in this movie was really decent and fun to watch, I did not find that thing or what ever that thing was chasing them that scary however I liked that fact you see the whole thing, when it's is chasing scenes, which was good tense scene. The acting I thought was decent in this movie5 out of 10
jonnithomas I was really pleasantly surprised with this movie. The basic premise is promising but the storyline isn't so hot but it is held together by some excellent and very real solid acting.I don't like this type of movie usually but this didn't rely upon loud noises to make you jump or preposterous baddies and blood and guts.it was well directed and stayed within realistic boundaries to keep your interest.the four main actors acquitted themselves well and gave what could have been a bad film real life and interest.I don't understand why some people have been so unfriendly towards this film; perhaps they are fans of Texas Chain Saw and Amityville. It isn't that type of film.
