I have to say right now that I am probably one of the greatest fans of Élise Guilbault in the entire world, so everything that she does attracts me. But in that movie. Wow!Paulette, an old woman, relates the night that changed her life forever., but also talks about her entire life, starting with her wedding. We follow the deterioration of her relationship with her husband, who is a total ***hole.La femme qui boit is not a cult film, it's not the best movie i've ever seen, but the performances of the actors are indescribable. I always thought that Élise Guilbault was one of the best actresses of the country, but she really strikes through the screen in this picture. She seems so real, she plays with all her heart. She's wonderful. It is also very well directed by Bernard Émond, a new director who really impressed me.
The mixture of Élise's play, Émond's direction, make of this movie a great masterpiece. As I said, it's not the best thing I've ever seen, but it made me think...I strongly recommend it, and if you're not impressed, well, there's not a lot of things that will impress you in the future.Bravo Élise, Luc, Michel, Alexandrine, Bernard, Gilles, and the rest of the cast & crew !

It is the story of the life of Paulette that has a drinking problem. We see the evolution of her problem since a very young age. It is not really a film about a social issue, it is more about Paulette herself, her personal problems. Many women were attending this film. Better to see that than a crappy american film.
