everything you have heard about this movie is true.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.

This is one of those crime thrillers that screams, "See how clever I am." You know from the mild beginning twists to expect more plot twists. The game I played was "How many twists can you identify?"Famous art thief Ripley (Morgan Freeman) recruits jewel thief Gabriel Martin (Antonio Banderas) to help him pull an impossible heist. Gabriel falls for Alexandra (Radha Mitchell) a friend of Ripley's. Meanwhile Lt. Weber (Robert Forster) is investigating Ripley, knowing he is going to rob a rich Russian living in NYC.The film moved quickly and kept me entertained. I enjoyed the acting and the dialogue with its innuendos. It is light enough of a crime thriller for the ladies to enjoy. The characters remind you, "Don't assume anything."Parental Guide: Brief F-bombs, sex, and nudity, but not excessive. Each in itself might constitute a PG-13 rating but collectively they would get an "R." Was that Banderas' naked butt in that love scene or a body double? I am guessing a double.

I was planning to give this film a 7 until the final scene, when the bubblegum-disco credits music kicked in. Deduct 1 star for the bad taste left in my mouth."Thick as Thieves" (alternatively titled "The Code") is your standard high-tech heist film, with serious tips of the hat to "Mission Impossible" and "Ocean's 11." A number of nice plot twists along the way, some of which you'll probably see coming and some not. The obligatory 40 seconds of moderately graphic sex. (Why did I get the odd notion that the producers were trying to bump this up to an R rating but couldn't quite manage it?) And, my main reason for the high rating, exceptional performances from Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas.Freeman is his usual stolid self and always worth seeing, though we've all seen his persona before. But Banderas is a particular joy to watch. At least one IMDb reviewer commented that he's getting a bit old to play the wisecracking buddy-movie younger guy, but I didn't view his character that way at all. I saw a cool-headed, competent crook, still young enough to have all his abilities but aware that the tide is ebbing quickly. (Banderas was 49 when this film was released, though his character can pass for considerably less.) And he doesn't take himself seriously; watch his facial expressions, some of which are hilarious, some self-mocking, and all expressive and beautifully in character. In fact, the entire film doesn't take itself seriously; I think that's why I had such fun watching what is, at bottom, a modest, not particularly original story. The ridiculously high-tech alarm systems and burglary gadgets, the juggling of identities and motives, the light, understated script (including some wonderful scenes featuring fully expendable bad guys): The mood of the whole is simply fun. Crack a beer and enjoy it.

This feels like a made-for-TV movie that somehow got some big actors attached to it.The directing is lacklustre, there is no style here at all, it is like the sweepings of the cutting floor of every other heist film. The pace is OK, things are continuously happening, but there is never a feeling of impetus, even as we get towards the end.Freeman and Banderas are sleep-walking through the film, they are acceptable in their roles but certainly not interesting and Mitchell seems to be playing a parody of every honest, determined cop.The dialogue is terrible, all clichés and no imagination. The plot is pretty standard, all the clichés with nothing new added. The opening sequence is especially ridiculous and unbelievable. The twists at the end are OK, there are a few and I didn't expect all of them. It's not a terrible movie it's just completely forgettable, a sort paint-by-numbers heist film. Watchable if you have absolutely nothing else to watch.

... by the actors that is. Still the movie suffers especially if you have seen more than 1 or 2 movies. Heist movies that try to be tricky have to be especially careful. Or especially good, extraordinary even to really stay with you. And despite the fact, that you have Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas in this one, it never really touches genius level. You might not guess every little detail (or maybe you do?), but even so the conclusion isn't really satisfying. It's still a fun ride though and you have a few nice touches. It's nicely filmed and everyone is trying their best. I've seen much worse ... but as stated above, I've seen better movies too.
