Marketic It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Sharkflei Your blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.
Tayyab Torres Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Reno Rangan The meaning of the title is practically the same as the original French movie 'Nuit Blanche'. And frame to frame it was almost similar, except a few minor changes in the characters. It is a great remake, especially keeping in mind the Indian audience and the Indian style of story narration. I have seen within India, the movies got remade into other languages which is quite a fashion for quick money making, but recently the International remakes were soaring with the excellent results. That's mean Indian film industries growing rapidly. The performances were good, but Trisha Krishnan was a surprise that I never saw her before in an action-lady role. The story was simple, a narcotic cop struggles to rescue his son from a drug-lord's captive. Everything happens in just one night in a nightclub building. It is not just a rescue mission, but the fate of many that decided when the daylight breakout. The stunts were much better than the usual Indian standards. It is a 2 hour movie which is a short for an Indian film, especially for not having songs and dances that saved around 15-20 minutes.I did not get bored of watching the same story for the second time in another language. There's a Hollywood remake is coming, and have to do it again. You can wait for the Jamie Foxx's performance or can try the original if you think you can't wait, but I also suggest this version which is not a bad either. This movie was well received by Indians than the French movie by French audience.8/10
vijay kumar Boring,no plot, good only for the first 15 minutes. This movie has no plot , the movie is about cocaine ,bad cops, drug mafia etc. But none of this is covered here. It is strictly for kamal fans.I cant even think of anything to write about this movie, that is the level of boring this movie can be.Also the last scene encourages underage driving, which is a problem in our country. The movie is like kids playing ' cops and bandit' in a marriage party.I wont recommend watching this movie even once.

Few scenes like kissing scene and the climax scene was new. Comedy elements were very good at certain points. Screenplay drags that makes you sleep. Just go for it for one time watch.....A crooked police officer is forced to improvise when his son is kidnapped by a ruthless drug dealer. Director: Rajesh M. Sohom Pramanick Every time you see the name 'Kamal Haasan' on big screen, you automatically expect to see something different and class apart from the regular formulaic flicks. And more often than not, Kamal succeeds in fulfilling his promise of raising the bar of cinema to next level. Irrespective of the box office success, his recent films Vishwaroopam, Uttama Villain and Papanasam, were appreciated unanimously by fans and critics alike. With Thoongaavanam, Kamal Haasan is back with an interesting film this Diwali. There are plenty of positives in the film, but what I loved the most about Thoongaavanam is that it gets right into the plot without wasting much time. Also, the film avoids the clichéd emotional scenes and unnecessary back stories, which might have diluted the thrill factor and affected the pace of the film. Kamal Haasan is undoubtedly excellent in the film, playing a rather grey character to perfection. Also, the actor manages to beautifully bring out the angst of a clumsy, irresponsible father who loves his son dearly. Even in action sequences, Kamal is swift and impressive. It is almost impossible to take your eyes off the big screen every time when Kamal Haasan enters the frame. Trisha has given a commendable performance as a hardened female cop, who will go the extra mile to do her duty. With no make up on, Trisha looks her part and stands out in her scenes along with Kamal. The duel between Kamal Haasan, Trisha and Kishore at the kitchen of the night club is amazingly shot. The realistic nature of the action stunts makes the struggles of the characters believable. Prakash Raj is terrific as the comic yet dangerous drug lord, as he manages to invoke humour and look menacing at the same time. Sampath has a small role and has done a decent job. Kishore has a meaty role to play and he has done full justice to his role. Amidst racy cat and mouse chase between Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj and Trisha, there are loads of wry humorous, one liners delivered by the secondary artist that will make you chuckle at times. Full marks to director Rajesh Selva for not deviating from the story to employ clichéd commercial elements. There are no songs in the film to block the smooth and thrilling proceedings. The scene where Kamal kisses a random girl in the club ( Madhu Shalini) time and again, to avoid being caught by Trisha and Kishore is fantastic.Thoongaavanam is a slick and interesting thriller that has all the elements to keep you hooked. Kamal Haasan and Trisha have come up with fabulous performances, and despite minor flaws, this Hollywood style action thriller is very watchable. Go for it!
