AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
pascaloetterli I can tell from my own experiences that in German speaking countries, that this movie is considered a cult-movie and that it is extremely popular. It has also its traditional firm spot in TV every Christmas, because people still love it. Success is owed to the very lovely couple Libuse Safrankova and Pavel Travnicek and to the music written by the great composer Karel Svoboda. The props are great too (Czechoslovakian style of the early modern times) and combined with the lovely landscape, it gives everyone a real good Christmas fairy entertainment. 10 out of 10 for beloved childhood memories and the perfect Christmas fairy tale. Three generations of spectators cannot be wrong!
homespun13 This is the classic Cinderella story, though the Czech version involves three wishes with a dress hidden in a nutshell rather than the French version better known in the US. This movie is set in medieval times, with period costumes, castles, beautiful visuals, including winter landscapes, which is not usually featured in fairy tales. It als has wonderful music, with songs performed by the top Czech singer Karel Gott. The heroine is not only pretty but also spunky. Though set in medieval times, Cinderella is rather modern (when it comes to her being able to handle weapons for example). All in all, a very enjoyable movie for any age viewer, one that is both modern and yet at the same time very traditional.Thumbs up on this one!
simonhbailey As a child I watched this on a rerun and fell for the enchanting story which whisked me away into a fantasy far from my own rather boring life. I remember being on holiday when it was showing and begging my father to get us home in time to be able to watch it on TV. The story is simply magical and for any audience still holds a romance all of its own. Anyone who has not seen it should watch it and if you remember it then you will know just what I am saying.I am trying to get hold of it on DVD but so far unsuccessfully.... If anyone knows where I may get hold of a copy then please do send me an e-mail ([email protected]) I would be very grateful. This is one show that has stayed firmly fixed in my memory and I would love to be able to see it again sometime.
snowbunni16 I watched this with my friends, and the effects were awesome!Awesome in that we were practically rolling on the floor laughing. There is a hawk or something and it is obviously on a string being twirled over their heads. I can't remember the other thing that had us hysterical, but the movie is worth watching for those things alone. The acting by the prince and his friends is also highly amusing. This movie is wonderful as a cult classic for its campiness. It is the most unique telling of the Cinderella story that I have ever seen and I really would recommend it to others, not just for the amusement of it, but also because when taken seriously it is a very endearing little film.
