Vesterman has found a young seal in his fishing nets in the outskirts of the archipelago. When he comes back to the Saltkråkan island he gives the seal to Tjorven, who names it Moses. Peter Malm, a visitor who works at the Zoological Institute in Uppsala, wants to buy the seal, but Tjorven says it's not for sale. Vesterman is in need of money and tries to get the seal back, to sell it to Peter. The children have to hide the seal, so he won't find it. Pelle's rabbit Jocke and one of Söderman's lambs are found bitten to death. The dog Båtsman is accused of those evil deeds, which means that Tjorven's father has to shoot her dog. In the last minute Söderman finds out that a fox is the perpetrator. Peter Malm says he won't buy the seal. Vesterman is disappointed and the seal stays with the children.

Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
Micransix Crappy film
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Atreyu_II Of all the movie adaptations from Astrid Lindgrens's novels I know so far, the one I like the best is 'Bröderna Lejonhjärta'. That is truly a timeless classic, with a unique charisma. This one is lovely (if not quite as much as 'Bröderna Lejonhjärta') and in some ways it resembles a Disney live-action film. To a degree, it's almost like a Disney live-action film made in Sweden. Of course, its film-making and distinguish cinematography are typically Swedish, but at the same time there is this slight Disney-like touch and charm.Being generally a happy-natured story, there is some drama too, which is an effective combination. The story is very amusing in the moments of comedy, but also sad in the moments of drama. It convinces on both sides! Although there are some adults, this story is mostly about children and animals. I'm talking not just about one animal, but a few different species of animals: there is a rabbit, a dog, a seal, a lamb and even a fox! All of these animals are cute. All actors are good, but the children and the animals are the ones who/that shine the most.
