Evengyny Thanks for the memories!
AboveDeepBuggy Some things I liked some I did not.
Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Haven Kaycee It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
dukeakasmudge I've never seen Trilogy Of Terror before & after hearing so much about it, I had to see it for myself.I guess the best thing I can say about it was Karen Black did a good job playing 4 different roles & the thing that amazed me the most was that this was a Made For TV movie.I did not know that until I read it on another website. They definitely don't make Made For TV movies like they use to & Trilogy Of Terror proves it.Other than that, I found Trilogy Of Terror to be mainly boring. The 1st story about the shy college professor & the scheming student who seduces & blackmails her was predictable & boring. The 2nd story about the 2 sisters was about the same, predictable & boring.Last but NOT least & the best of the bunch was the story of the African tribal doll.It was the best & most entertaining out of the 3.If nothing else, skip the 1st 2 & go right to the 3rd
Rainey Dawn Three stories and each story gets better than the last. And yes the last story is the creepiest - freakiest - the Zuni fetish doll. The first story "Julie" and the second "Millicent and Therese" are suspenseful thrillers that are well worth watching. The third story "Amelia" is horrifying - it will scare the pants off of you.If you have not seen "Trilogy of Terror" do so!! It is one of the best made for TV horror movies that you will ever see.By the way, the Zuni fetish doll you will see in the third story of "Trilogy of Terror" makes Chucky look just like "Child's Play". Chucky cannot hold a candle to the Zuni. Zuni rules, Chucky drools.9/10
Brian T. Whitlock (GOWBTW) Karen Black really stands out in this movie of strange happenings. In "Trilogy of Terror", her personality really shines through. In the segment of "Julie", she may look like someone who is tried to her work. Just to say, don't let that look fool you. One student tried his best to make her a part of a scandal. Somehow, that plan backfires. BeBecause at the end, he ended up being the statistic, not her. In the segment of "Millicent and Therese", you deal with sisters: one's a prude, the other, a wild child. Dealing with family trauma, of course when the real deal is a female version of "Jekyll & Hyde". And the last segment is "Amelia". This one is classic! Here you got a woman with mother issues, after she buys a Zuni fetish doll, she called her. After the hang up, the gold chain falls off, without her knowing it. All of the sudden, the doll comes alive, and attack her savagely. This one tops it all. Made back in the mid 70's, it wasn't all that cheesy. It was simple though. Still not kid friendly. A good way to remember Karen. 3 out of 5 stars.
Toronto85 'Trilogy of Terror' tells three different scary stories, each with Karen black in the lead role. These stories are well put together, and each have a eerie little twist at the end of them that left me shocked, and in one story, creeped out. In the first story "Julie", we meet a high school jock type of guy named Chad who wonders what his teacher Julie looks like under all of the stuffy clothes she wears. Julie has the whole librarian look going on. She has her hair up in a bun always, glasses on, multiple layers of clothing, etc. Chad becomes almost obsessed with her, and comes up with a sick scheme to drug and take photos of Julie half naked in bed as a way to blackmail her into sleeping with him and doing what he wants. It's not too long after that we discover Julie isn't all she seems, and that leads to a well put together twist. The next is called "Millicent and Therese", both of whom are sisters who have nothing in common. Millicent is the good girl with morals, values and no make-up. Therese is basically a sexually suggestive woman who uses her sexuality and looks to get what she wants. Anyways, Millicent tells a story which paints Therese as their mother's killer and makes out as if Therese sold her soul to Satan. We the viewers soon get a better insight into the two sisters and their personality when their psychiatrist comes on, and realize that not all that Millicent has said is true...The third and final story is the most terrifying, it's called "Amelia". Amelia is a happy young woman who lives on her own in a high rise apartment building. She's gotten a Zuni fetish doll shipped to her which she planned to give to her boyfriend as a gift, he studies anthropology. The doll comes with a scroll which states this specific doll is possessed by the spirit of a Zuni hunter named "He Who Kills"...and once you remove the gold chain from around it's neck, it will kill again. The chain accidentally comes off, and it goes after Amelia in her apartment leading to a genuinely scary ending.'Trilogy of Terror' is a good made for TV movie from the 70's, I lied it for it's interesting conclusions to each tale. Even if the story was a little weak or slower moving, the twist at the end saves it. For example, I thought the first two stories lacked compared to the third, but the endings saved them! Karen Black was magnificent in all of her roles in each story, this movie had to have a strong actress to make it work and she did. I highly recommend this one.8/10
