Private eye Roland Drake cracks cases and romances femme fatales in 1940's Los Angeles while corrupt cop Det Barry Tate rules the city. A tale told in the classic style of film noir. Drake has fallen on hard times in a harsh world. He has been evicted from his office and disgraced by a missing persons case. Ruined in the public eye and with the police. it seems like it's all over for Roland Drake. Then, redemption walks in - with curves. The owner of those curves is a sexy, dark haired beauty named Katherine Montemar. She wants his help. The chemistry is immediate and her concern for the disappearance of her family members pulls him into her case - and into bed.

jacobsonbrock Just a great movie. The performances were witty and dark. The film is well directed. It is a noir drenched treat. The story line had me and I just loved it. Director Konkle knows what he is doing here. Brittney Powell gives the best performance Ive seen her give. David Beeler is outstanding as Lew a character of surprising levels. All the technical limitations of what must have been a small budget transcend. The tone the effort is a complete joy to watchIts a treat and well worth a look.
tzomakas This film is unwatchable. Apparently the people participating in it are logging on IMDb to give it 9- and 10-star ratings, The acting level is at college levels, the scenario worthy of a country club play, the production is backyard/ garage/ basement-based. The budget is that of a yard-sale and there are Youtube films out there that are worth twice and thrice the value of this film. The only reason I spent so much effort to write this review is to save people from time and bytes wasted.
davidjdoyle-140-892335 Don't waste your time with this flick. I'm being gracious with 2 stars. The film tries too hard to be noir and fails miserably. With essentially a "no name" cast, which is not normally a red flag, but in this case it is. This is more a parody of a noir detective film, at least that's the way it comes across. Acting is high school drama class quality... seriously, I really can't single out one good portrayal. The writing is an insult to classic noir, the directing is hamfisted and sophomoric. The 8,9 and 10 star reviews were probably made by the cast, crew and family members as they are so over-the-top gushing platitudes as to be completely unbelievable.
nuttz-20906 I read through the reviews here and they seemed a little polarized which is always a good sign to me because it means at least there's a bold statement or at least it tried to do something I knew that it looked like a micro budget film but so what. Blockbusters can stick and spectacle is common. I like genre films like this it seems it had the budget of what we now consider classics like Maltese falcon or out of the pastoral whatever else I've watched in Film Noir sothey were micro budget before micro budget was cool even back in the 40s and 50s so I figured I'd give it a try because the actors in pleasing was an interesting story had a good trailer I was not disappointed it actually held my interest and had a cool mystery the actors were very very good I don't quite understand some of the criticism I guess it's all to taste everyone's a critic I thought they were completely believable they even had The right old faces and didn't seem too Contemporary in there manner and we're utterly believable I thought Tom Konkle is a great leading man as the lead character Konkle did an amazing job as did Brittney Powell and Vernon Wells and everyone in the cast. The frivolous guy and I looked up The guy who played Johnny was named Ben Pace and I looked up the lady who's in charge of the family because she was awesome and had a voice and look right out of the 40s and It was an actress Jordana Capra David Beeler was a standout character. Overall the picture and sound were top notch and soundtrack music was lush I was frankly expecting crappy low-budget and this was high-level good stuff so I don't know what they did but they did it right. I enjoyed the movie. and beautiful the look was amazing I don't know what more I could've expected from a low-budget no war film that aspired to be a classic film style I really enjoyed it totally worth the money and frankly more intelligent and more interesting with more character moments then some Hollywood blockbuster is I've seen it's worth a look I'm just a person watches movies and I liked it. You want some funny moments some characters you like to spend time with something that really catches the feel of film noir and it's attitude and it's well directed it's worth a look it's a little film don't expect transformers here but in many ways I enjoyed it more. I'm glad I spent what I did to just watch this and didn't spend 20 bucks going to another big robot dinosaurs thing to be disappointed by Hollywood film this was Hollywood done in the classic style and a great little story it's worth a look.
