Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
Dirtylogy
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Fleur
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

I remembered watching this movie as a kid. It was one of those movies that I could never forget. Watching it, I was utterly surprised by the kid from "Even Stevens" (Shia LaBeouf). He was such a goof ball in that show, and then I saw this, and Wham! His performance was so moving and heart wrenching, and amazing. This movie was so good. I just finished watching it again, I hadn't seen it since it first came out in 2002. Now, as an adult, I can understand the characters more. I wanted to just take the ignorant characters and sock them in the face for not realizing how dumb they really were. Most Disney films just scratch the surface of human stories and emotions. This gem of a movie went beyond what I would expect for a TV movie, let alone Disney.

This is the single best DCOM in existence. I haven't seen this movie in a very long time, due to extremely rare airings, probably because of the delicate subject matter.Frankly, I'm amazed Disney made this movie at all, let alone how wonderfully they handled it. Especially Tru's contest entry. Fantastically done. But am I ever thankful for it.Shia is at his best in this movie, showing his dramatic skill at a level previously unseen. He must have been around fourteen years old when he played this role, and after seeing him on even stevens at the time, I was completely stunned, and in fact still am. Six years later, this performance still gets me uncontrollably emotional. Case in point, the kite and library scenes.Clara Bryant was also spot on, although a couple lines of dialogue seemed a little awkward. I loved how this movie showed how everybody interacted with Eddie, and not just one point of view.It shouldn't have the stigma it is associated with just because it is a DCOM. In fact, it almost redeems all of Disney's other mistakes, like HSM.I was ten years old again, just for a while.It is beautiful.

Thirteen minutes ago I just finished watching this movie and I love it I have seen this movie maybe five times and I always cry like crazy! Shia Laboeuf is amazing in this movie, it is a great change from Louis in even Stevens which I am very proud of. Tru confessions is a movie to change your point of view of the world and realize how cruel people really can be. One of the parts in this movie that just make me cringe with anger is the spitting in the hat part and giving it to Eddie to wear. People like them are really jerks and believe that just because someone is incapable of doing something that they should be made fun of. One of the reasons that this movie really touches my heart is because I happen to have a cousin who went deaf when she was two and was made fun of a lot for it. She took it pretty harshly and ended up sick in the hospital and on medication. But she soon got over that and realized that what people say doesn't matter. If they say crappy hings about you then they obviously do not know you and you probably don't want to get to know them either. So way to go Disney for creating this wonderful master piece and I solute you, it is a very touching movie and thanks a bunch.
