Ghoulumbe Better than most people think
Connianatu How wonderful it is to see this fine actress carry a film and carry it so beautifully.
Numerootno A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Stephan Hammond It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Tim Loudoun From the pulsating, funky, and party time start to the shocking but welcome end twist this was a welcome change to the norm. The anti racist undertone set out by the early supermarket scene had whispers of Mandela. The moment that Jean Claude gave his life to explode was moving too. The thought provoking ending makes this a must for all film buffs. Too often are women portrayed as pieces of meat and not as truly credible actresses. This film bucks the trend by having both blonde AND brunette ladies, and one wore trousers. The cgi involved was amazing with what seemed like real spaceships shooting people and being able to show what extraterrestrial technology is surely like.
Clay Cyr I made the unfortunate mistake of reading the reviews here before watching the blu-ray I got in the $8 bin. I watched in horror as everything the negative reviewers pointed out was revealed as the ugly truth. The film(?) is so bad it actually deserves a rating of half a star, which sadly doesn't exist on this site's rating system. I understand completely now why the reviewers were beside themselves trying to squeeze out adjectives and metaphors for how bad this piece of cinematic garbage truly is. Spoilers...how can you spoil something that is already rotten? I would rather have spent that $8 on a fast food meal that gave me food poisoning...at least it would have given me some nourishment before my bowel movement. Yes, it is truly THAT bad. I could care less about the $8 I wasted because the worst of it is I will never be able to purge it from my subconscious mind and will have to bear the memory of it till I die.
dobner I believe the intent of this movie is to show how regular people react to desperate situations between each other. Although the title would indicate otherwise, it really is earthling against earthling in this film as the major source of conflict. This movie suffers from unnecessarily drawn out scenes that detract from that goal: the extended bar scene in the beginning, the sex scene in the beginning, any of the fighting scenes. The alien vessels and special effects were hokey. If I had to say one good thing about this movie, it is that most of the major characters died leaving no one for a drawn out ending.
jyarnell78 I thought this might be a good sci-fi flick, boy was I wrong. I feel sorry for Sean Brosnan. Don't think I'd want my name on this one. The first hour was pretty much a snooze-fest and you see no alien presence whatsoever. The lines were hard to follow with a lot of needless hot tempers and a lot of foul language that didn't add any entertainment value at all. After an alien ship is discovered hanging in the sky, they spend most of the rest of the movie looking (and not very hard) for George. Jean Claude Van Damme, who played George, only shows up for the last few minutes of the movie and his few minutes of fighting might have been the highlight of the film. The only positive mentionable was the plot twist of what the aliens are.Other than that the movie was mostly forgettable.Plain and simple, this movie sucks. Don't waste your money, even for the $1.20 charged at any Red Box.
