joelbrandt2 The low-budget-like style here is just so cool and unique: there's the discomforting and claustrophobic wide-angle lens, the intense close-ups and other interesting angles, the deliberate and concise editing, the unnerving original score, the perfect A-lister cameo, the freeze-frame under rapid end credits. The story is a little wonkily constructed at points (see the puzzlingly early mystery reveal) but is always creepy and thrilling, carried by Foy's strong central performance.

kyboomer . I do not think people understand this movie. It is a psychological thriller. You can assume that if this place is as crooked as it appears they would find a way to keep the main character hospitalized.The way it is filmed gives it an even darker appearance. I have watched it twice. The first time I could not decide who was crazy and who was not. The thriller aspect had me on the edge of my seat and the ending had me wondering, "wow, maybe she is crazy."I gave it a 7 because her mother was killed yet she did not seem to be too traumatized. It is a great Friday night go to movie.

OneEightNine Media First off, the picture quality on this just plain s&cks. I'm not sure if they were trying to give this an old school horror vibe but they failed miserably; especially in low light conditions. But yeah, the first half of the film was engaging but the second half drops the ball and turns the film into an eye rolling fest.
