I cannot believe that so many of the past reviewers have called this piece of crap a 'masterpiece', etc. I tried but could not get past half way thru this utter nonsense. After almost 75 years of film making in Tamil, "Uttama Villain" is an absolutely vindication of the fact that movie making in India is still in amateurs' hands. Their only qualification is that they have access to money (illegal funds I am sure) and no one deserving really cares about film making. Kamal Hassan had his good performances in the past but with this film, he has lost all of the respect that I had for him. About direction, the less said the better. Ramesh Arvind is either crazy or unbelievably stupid; perhaps both. I pity the investors and distributors for this film. They must be all in dire financial straits for sure

This movie was indeed emotional and has a lot of flaws in the direction. When I read the reviews posted by few others I felt that is complete nonsense and should review this movie. Movie these days has nothing. Except foul words, item songs and cheap dialogues. I guess you know which movie I am talking about. But this movie is like a lesson and in fact actors who consider doing roles based on background music and who is completely on masala terms should see this movie and learn what they call "acting". Kamal is a legend that is something no one can question. If one does then he is probably the one , you know. Kamal has done really good in few scenes where you never expected . Scenes are there in this movie which you can never ever forget. The movie did not go well in the box office. But indeed was appreciated by many. The reason why the movie did not go well was because the movie did not have santhanam, punch dialogues, item songs, cheap dialogues and of course a lazy storyline. An intellectual will definitely appreciate this movie.

Ausm Movie ever... In my life time, Tears has run out without my control..One is Anbe Sivam and Another one is UttamaVillain.. I felt KamalHassan has lived in this movie as the Character. Its purely a tribute to K Balachander - Iyakunar Sigaram.. If this movie got flopped, then our audience are not yet got matured to understand the movie..For sure this will be celebrated after a decade like people celebrated anbe sivam, kurutipunal, aalavandhan and hey ram.. the biggest plus of d movie is Ullaganayagan. Songs and background score by Ghibran acted as a strong pillar for the movie. It is so divine watching Legendary director K.Balachander on screen in such an important role; his character and performance is a great value addition to the film.Totally Uttamavillain - Villainai kondra Uttamam..
