Bereamic Awesome Movie
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
John Ling Good while watching it, but I felt tricked at the end. The plot hinges on the difference between imagination and reality, but there is no indication in the way the scenes are presented that some are entirely in a character's imagination. The audience sees real settings – woman on computer with others working around her, girl being abused by angry boyfriend – and assumes that these are actual occurrences. And how does Jamie 'recognise' Kevin when visiting the flats where he is supposed to live? The audience sees a resemblance to the man shown abusing Rachel, but that scene didn't really happen. In the absence of this deliberate blurring of the real/unreal distinction, viewers would be able to work out early on what's 'really' going on.
SnoosReviews The main thing that appealed to me about this movie was the fact that it was a low budget, urban, British drama film with a not so well known cast. I am always interested in these films as it is nice to take a step away from the mainstream Hollywood movies with the same actors & similar story lines.Uwantme2killhim? Is apparently based on a true story, though having now watched the film I am unsure on how much of this is a true story. I read the basics of the storyline before watching this and It seemed interesting enough so I gave it a go. Mark speaks to a girl online, a girl who is in the witness protection programme, called Rachel. Rachel has a brother who goes to the same school as Mark and she asks Mark to looks out for him as he isn't fitting in well and is getting bullied. Little does Mark know that things aren't all that they seem. That's it, that's all I'm going to say as I don't want to give anything away!I found this to be quite a disturbing movie in parts, it did very well to involve the viewer and showed a story of loneliness, & desperation. You really feel for the characters & their situations, this is helped by the acting by the young cast. They won't win any Oscars for their performances and they were far from perfect, but the majority of the cast are convincing and really connect with the script. The character development is also brilliant, it isn't a very long film but it moves at a pace which really lets you see many different sides to the main characters. There are twists and turns in this film, many people have stated that it was predictable but I didn't think so! I knew something was not as it seemed & you knew it was coming to the boil and things were going to be revealed but I didn't expect it to happen as it did. The scenes with the online chat rooms are very gripping and a filmed perfectly. You hear the words being spoken in the characters head as they are typed and they camera work as it pans over the text on the screen and the characters facial expressions is brilliantly done. It creates unease and an edgy feeling for the viewer, you feel like something is about to happen at any second.Uwantme2killhim has a very unique plot and I would certainly recommend it if you have a spare couple of hours!8/10
Bene Cumb All inventions mankind developed have - apart from advantages and progress - brought along their use for pleasure and/or for felonies. Internet is no exception here, and uwantme2killhim? depicts a story about a misuse of Internet opportunities. The screenplay is solid, the thrill is out there, with sophisticated twists included, and the performances of the 2 protagonists - Jamie Blackley as Mark and Toby Regbo as John - are distinct. The almost 1,5 hours pass without unnecessary ballast, and the film can easily be recommended to be shown at schools for teens - despite the fact that the issues depicted happened decades ago and, since then, lots of countermeasures have been introduced.Being based on a true story provides additional value to the film; strong 7 points from me.
TV Nut I'm familiar with two of the main cast (Toby Regbo of Reign and Joanne Froggatt of Downton Abbey). It started off a bit slow for me, but it got interesting after Mark heard the news about Rachel. I did not know this movie is based on real events! It reminds me so much of Heavenly Creatures with Kate Winslet, but without the attraction between friends of course. The twist at the end was totally unexpected. It makes you wonder how, as a movie watcher, you missed the signs that led to the ending. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie!Fantastic actors, great plot.
