It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

Veronica MARS looks like VENUS, but is a down to EARTH girl who is from cliche filled NEPTUNE where no one drives a MERCURY. Veronica narrates the last dozen years of her life so we can catch up, but continues her "Sex in the City" style of narration well into the film. She is set to work for a law firm in NYC and has a great boyfriend. When someone from her "nearly everyone is rich and famous" class is killed, and the main suspect is her ex-boyfriend. Veronica returns to resume her role as an investigator in the case. This was a made for TV formulaic script, and wasn't done well. If you have evidence to clear your client, you present it to the DA and not the local sheriff who doesn't like you. I also don't understand why she never returned the calls or answered the phone from her new employer. She could explain what she was doing, if they were willing to wait, fine, if not, also fine. But to simply ignore the calls without giving them the respect and decency to provide them with information to make a decision is immature and irresponsible. What channel has the "Columbo" reruns?Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex. no nudity.

As you may know, "Veronica Mars" is the highest profile movie to date to be financed via Kickstarter, a crowdfunding service that's like a glorified version of tossing money in a street musician's hat. It's the perfect project to be funded in such a manner because it's based on a program that was beloved but never widely seen. I can't imagine anyone who liked the show not enjoying this film, even though the first half is stronger than the second, which spirals into a frenzy of double- and triple-crossing that's less engaging than watching the characters reconnect, awkwardly but with feeling. It's aimed at a particular audience with particular needs and satisfies them. It may be the ultimate example of what's known as "fan service." Its pleasures include emotionally resonant pop music, widescreen color-noir photography (by Ben Kutchins), and a big cast full of smart actors playing sharply defined, still-surprising characters. First among equals are Bell, who's as tough and sexy as an actress can be while still reading as decent; Colantoni, who seems incapable of hitting a false note, and Dohring, whose acting always had a touch of the young Mickey Rourke's contemptuous self-awareness, and used it to fool viewers who thought they had Logan figured out. (He's the punk preppy Heathcliff.) All in all, the movie delivers what you expect, but not in the way you expect it. That makes it work as both a long-delayed if abbreviated fourth chapter in Veronica's story, and a rare big-screen version of a TV show that rethinks its source rather than merely recycling it. Watch, for example, how the film deals with the reunion itself, which was presented in advance PR as the central event in the film. It both like the rest of the movie, it uses digital technology, including smart phones, texting and streaming video, as a means of advancing the story and commenting on what has changed and what has remained constant.Somiyainternational, Screenwriter, www.filmdonation.com

I don't remember the series, but maybe that would have helped with some of the characters and their relations. It doesn't actually matter, it is a good film, quit entertaining, has a lot of humor along side the more series detective work. It is primarily Kristen Bell as Veronica that has the snide and funny remarks, but also her farther played by Enrico Colantoni is quite good.It annoyed me a bit, that the choices go from very grownup Veronica Mars, being serious, trying out for a new job at a high-priced law firm, to seeing this falling back into the old style of the town where she grew up and went to school. I know this is what she wants, but it just seems a bit too fetched.

The first 10-15 minutes of this film were good and I'll admit that it showed promise in the early stages, but the potential it had at the beginning ended up being wasted very quickly.Despite all the problems, I must admit that I did like the character of Veronica Mars. I found her to be sassy, cool & confident. I liked Kristen Bell's performance and thought that she brought as much life to the character as she could and she actually made her character quite fun. The film isn't too bad as a mystery film - not a great mystery film mind and certainly not one that will have you glued to your seat, but it was OK. That's about as much praise as I can give this film....The main issue that I had with this film is that it was so annoying; it centres around a load of spoilt rich kids and the viewer is left trying to work out which annoying rich kid committed the crime. Imagine the film Clueless as a murder mystery film and you get the idea of what this film is like. I really hated all of the characters (except Veronica Mars) and found them all to be shallow and one dimensional - at times I was just one 'Whatever' 'As If' or 'Girlfriend' away from me putting my foot through the TV.To the film's credit, it does throw in the usual twists & turns & red herrings as we would expect from the genre, but for me I just didn't care. I thought that there wasn't enough focus on Veronica Mars and her investigations and too much focus on her annoying friends. If I'm being honest I lost interest by the halfway mark making it a tough old slog to get to the end of it.Although it didn't appeal much to me, I suspect that those in the younger demographic may enjoy it more than I did as they may see some of the characters as being cool rather than annoying. However, for me this was a misfire.
