This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

Vismayathumbath is not a lift up of just like heaven. Just like heaven was released in the year 2005 and 'vismayathumbath' released in the early months of 2004. Both may be adopted from the same novel 'If only it were true' written by 'Marc Levy', that is why we can see the similarity . Fazil done it well , and actors like Mohanlal and Nayanthara made their roles memorable.Watch this movie for an amazing experience. When comparing with just like heaven , i will give a 10/10 for just like heaven for the excellent script for the same base. The 'malayalam' version of the novel fails in providing a script which is strong enough to make the audience to sit in the seats, some times it is loosing its grip.Camera works were superb and background score was apt for the movie. totally director made a courageous venture to make a movie in this genre

The movie is a straight lift from 'just like heaven', the reese witherspoon rom-com. The screenplay is a big let down, the acting is superficial, and the production value is pitiful. Its all about an eccentric called Sreekumar who can speak to the spirit of Rita and there is a weird reason for this... similar IQ! After lot of confusion, Sreekumar finds that Rita is actually alive, but the soul escaped from the body and she is in coma state in a hospital. The movie is clearly an attempt by the one-time ace director Fazil desperately trying to make a comeback. He ripped off a beautiful English movie and managed to array a range of stars like Mohanlal, Nayantara, Mukesh, and Harisree Asokan. He would have dreamt of making another 'manichitrathazhu' which was an original and one of the best movies ever made in Malayalam. Fazil still has capability, but his screenplay is so artificial that one wonders whats in his mind when writing those contrived dialogs. Nobody speaks nowadays like the way Mohanlal or Nayan speaks in this movie. Its pretty similar to a drama. Moreover, Mohanlal's hammy acting is a real burden. Not for a single moment, he understands that character. The way he portrays it is much similar to another eccentric he portrayed in 'Ayal Katha Ezhuthukayanu'. Nayantara does not deliver, but that can be pardoned as its only her second movie and the role is quite heavy. Frankly, the acting by the lead actors is the worst in recent times, especially towards the climax. The songs are again, rip off from various Hindi and tamil songs. The only saving grace is Mukesh who, as usual, very effective in tickling your funny bone. My vote is 2 out of 10 and that 2 is just for Mukesh. Its better to watch the original 'just like heaven' or Manichitrathazhu for the 10th time than wasting your money over this one.

Even mohan lal couldn't save this film. This film is not for regular malayalee people, and the screenplay was one of the worst from Fazil. Fazil who made movies like nookketha dhoorathu kannum nattu, manichitra thazhu totally failed his audience by choosing this strange story. Its not easy for regular viewers to digest a movie like this.Mohan lal, the greatest actor on earth was completely wasted in this film. I hope fazil will come up with something real good next time.Mohan lal, and mukesh tried their best to get audience interest, but failed. My rating is 6/10 because of MOhan lal, and his amazing performance as always.

Truth is indeed vastly stranger than fictionYou'll start believing this after you've seen the movie. Fazil has once again amazed us all with his story & direction.Mixed with peppy songs and stunts this movie is going to become one of the highest grossing films of this year.Rita (Nayantara) is a spirit which finds its way into Sreekumar's (Mohanlal) hand. Both are of very high IQ's. Maybe that's why only Sreekumar can see & hear Rita. Rita is in an amnesia state and its upto Sree to review her memory and find why she has come to him. On the way lies many mysteries and dangers. But Sree with the help of Gopan (Mukesh), [Harisree Ashokan], [Cochin Haneefa], [Salim kumar] and of course the spirit, Rita follow the strange path of truth only to discover that truth is indeed vastly stranger than fiction and leave us with ONE HELL OF A MOVIE .Mohanlal is as usual AMAZING with his high IQ acting, Mukesh plays the role of sub-hero with brilliance and Harisree Ashokan and Salim kumar chips in with comedies. But it is Nayantara who has amazed me with her strong and amazing acting. You wouldnt believe that she is acting only in her second movie. Together they make this movie indeed worth watching. My verdict is that this movie is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and you will surely get full value for your money.
