Comwayon A Disappointing Continuation
InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
RevRonster Some might cite this film's disturbing story as the reason for it being a bad movie but, in my opinion, the story could have actual been very unique and interesting…but, sadly, it wasn't."Vulgar" proves to be a sloppy mess as its story can't figure out what tone it wants, the dialogue is horrendous and tries to be smarter than it needs to be, the lighting is terrible, the film quality is just a disgusting mess, and Brian O'Halloran was not a good choice for the lead role—too often it feels like he is trying to be Dante from "Clerks" and not trying to venture out of his comfort zone and be a different character. In the end, the film is just cringe-worthy rather than interesting or even remotely intriguing.
BoringBoo Sorry, but I don't agree with the people here. The acting was diabolical, it was like porn movie acting, it was terrible.I fell asleep through it, it wasn't gripping, it wasn't impressive, it was a badly acted, thrown together film. and even though I had fallen asleep, it was like I had watched the whole thing, very apt there is torture in this film as it was torture for me to watch it.This was referred to me by a friend, who incidentally had never seen it, but read reviews, possibly on here, where the gushing kissing of asses is so evident. The lead actor is terrible, he cannot act, in fact none of them can act, Suplee does what he does best, plays weirdos and Mewes is doing the same role as usual, it's the sort of film that had been written in a day and then filmed over two days, it is that bad.If you are an artsy fartsy type, then you may like this film, or you may just say you like the film to make yourself appear cultured, but you are only fooling yourself. Don't believe the hype.A film about a violent sexual assault and I fell asleep, well it says it all doesn't it?
Lucien Lessard Will (Brian O'Halloran) is a struggling artist, who loves to entertained the kids as a clown. Since Will is down on his luck, he thinks posing as an adult party clown for entertainment like Bachelor Party or others thinks it's a good idea to make extra money. When Will finds himself raped and beaten by a middle-aged low life (Jerry Lewkowitz) and his two sons (Ethan Suplee & Matthew Maher). Will has suffered badly but slowly his luck changed... when he saves the life of a little girl from being hostage. Will's dreams starts to come true, he becomes an local celebrity in his hometown and he gets to host his own children program. But the people, who raped Will came back to ruined him and Will has no choice to fight back.Written and Directed by Bryan Johnson made an fascinating adult/black comedy that is serious half of the time and it is also occasionally disturbing. O'Halloran gives an sympathetic performance. This is a well made independent film that looks true to life and it is ugly to look at. First-Time Filmmaker Johnson keeps this feature fairly straight but sometimes his film-making style is sloppy occasionally.DVD has an good grainy anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1) transfer and an fine Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD includes an informative often hilarious commentary track by actor/executive producer:Kevin Smith, actor/co-editor/executive producer:Scott Mosier, actor:O'Halloran, actor/writer/director:Johnson and producer:Monica Hampton. Some viewers might find this enjoyable commentary track better than the movie. DVD also includes an featurette on Kevin Smith's Dogma!, Introduction to the Deleted Scenes with the Filmmakers and more. "Vulgar" is not for everyone, it is not the greatest independent artwork flick but is is a fairly good film. Fans of Smith's film-making work as a director or producer will certainly enjoy this one. (*** 1/2 out of *****).
Videogamer49107 I had no idea what this movie was about when I rented it, I just remembered that Kevin Smith produced another film, I think I heard it was made by one of his friends and it was called Vulgar. This movie is definitely interesting and it gets pretty depressing sometimes. The acting is horrible in a lot of places and in some it actually gets pretty good. The acting though, it's, say you gathered a few friends to make a movie with a home video camera, that's what it's like. And since that's what the movie was made for so I've heard, the acting can be tolerated. The movie gets brutal in parts and in the end even bloody. There's a lot of language, a lotta' language. Other than warning someone about the brutality, the depressing storyline, the decent acting, and the language, there's not much to say about Vulgar. It's not deep, it's not good, but it's definitely worth a rental.
