GazerRise Fantastic!
Konterr Brilliant and touching
Ketrivie It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
lethal_smile I love films and I love films from everywhere Korean, Japanese, f French, Iranian as long it's a good film with good story. I am not limited to any genre either. I haven't been a big fan of Bollywood as mainly they are all musical with bad dance choreography, non sense songs and stories are not original. When I went to watch this film I was bit skeptical but after I watched Shoman's Khuda ke liye and wanted to watch Bol in the cinema but shame both were never released anywhere close to where I lived that time. On top, I think cinema tickets are just pricey now, going to cinema paying £10-£11 if you get popcorn and drink it adds up on top of that and if you have some annoying crowd there, some ill mannered teenagers or some bad parents who can't control their kids then your money is wasted and cinema cannot give you comforts of home so I only go to cinema once I am sure it is a great film, not good - Great. This film delivers. I dragged my partner who's non Pakistani with me to watch the film, I would have given this film solid 7-8 for overall - 5/10 for 1st half as it was bit dull and 5-10 minute scene where Ali Azmet is taking a shower was bit ridiculous and I would give 9 /10 for other half. I think major let down was CGI effects, some of them were brilliant some of them weren't at all and funny enough bad ones were small scenes like the scene where people from special forces doing checks on people profile's on their computer, looked bit fake or when Shaan has a nightmare where his wife and kid catches fire, fire looks fake completely. I know we don't have the resources same as Hollywood/Bollywood but if I make a film I know I can't give the quality I wouldn't use it. Other let down was no subtitles, they did not release the film anywhere in subtitles though the most of film was in English but many scenes were in Urdu. I think if you are releasing a film abroad you should release it in subtitles and especially if most of film is in English, did not make much sense to me but despite of all these, it was a brilliant film, making action film is not a walk in the park it's brave taking on a project like that, this also proves you can make a great film without any stupid songs and because it was his Bilal's first film. I have given 9/10.
J B Datta This is the first Paki Movie I have seen, and choose it in view of the controversy for being Anti-Indian and one of the most high budget movies of pak.But in a nutshell, truly disappointed. Have expected a far better movie. Only thing that impressed me was the the fluent and quality accent of English the actors have spoken (80% conversation was in English).Other than that, this movie is full of meaningless bloodshed, Random AK-47 & 56, M-5, Heckler & Koch ... a full showcase of small arms. And oh, you could also see the Apache copters ... But except of that there is no tight story or theme ... not even a big (true) bomb that the terrorists usually use (an usual expectation of a viewer from an Action+Thriller movie based on Terrorism)!! There are so many loose ends that even before the half of the movie, I lost track and the rest half, i just used Ctrl+(>) on VLC. In fact there is no thrill at all even could be expected from a class C thriller movie.A small piece of advise to the director, please spend a few bucks on research about the theme along with your 200 Crore at the main budget, at least get into the fact that modern explosives are not made by "mixing" two types of "liquid" which can be stored in cheap plastic drums. TNT and Nitro Glycerine (which are liquid, but I don't know of any variant of "mixing" them) are very old comparing to modern plastic explosives and most importantly, terrorists do not use those. And of course, the "chemical bomb" was really funny, bubbling violet liquid (water)in a glass jar + a laptop (not even a tab or smart phone !!!) which is "sealed" with duct tapes !!! C'on ......
write-njt I have watched a lot of Bollywood flicks - silly ones and serious ones. I have also watched one Pakistani movie called Khuda Ke Liye, and Reluctant Fundamentalist by an Indian director and thought both movies were fantastic. So when I saw this on similar subject matter, and the fantastic ratings, I watched it right away. I couldn't believe how bad this movie is. Forget Hollywood, it's C grade compared to Bollywood also (from whatever I've seen). Thought for a while I had the wrong movie. Unbelievable plot, bad acting, terrible continuity. Only convenient thing was that the movie was mostly in English, so I didn't lose a lot of the language nuances in subtitles as I do with other Bollywood/Pakistani flicks. But seriously, this movie was so bad, that I'm appalled anyone rated it so highly. And then I thought I'd read the good reviews here to see what I'm missing, and the reviews appall me even more. It seems everyone in Pakistan is obsessed with their neighbor India, and because this movie has a mob-rousing plot against India, they're rating it high. Also because it's the "biggest budget" Pakistani film. When you spend so much money and make something so bad, isn't it more embarrassing? Please don't waste your time if you're actually looking for a good movie or entertainment. Don't believe the high rating at all. They're not for the movie, but for mindless jingoistic nationalism. Avoid!
Dave Kimber Let me start by saying this why do people keep bringing this up 'best Pakistani film' etc? Waar puts many Hollywood films to shame specially the junk that has been produced over there in recent times. How on earth can someone in the right state of mind can even begin to compare this masterpiece to other mega-productions that massively fail to impress & lack the essence of film making.Don't get me wrong there are obviously some really good Hollywood productions that I can watch over & over again & waar goes right up there in my top 10 best movies of all time list, which is quite a statement. I have seen them all from sin city to sexy beast, from 300 to shawshank redemption as well as the original old boy. This stunner & absolutely quality production deserves a place right up there with the well deserving titles.Well done to all that were involved in the making of this masterpiece, incredible & breath-taking film making at its best! Learn from it this is how movies are made. A well deserving 10/10!! If you haven't seen this masterpiece yet do yourself a favour stop what you are doing & watch it, even if you have to watch it on a DVD, Enjoy!
