This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

I decided to read all the reviews before I watched the movie,I saw some negative ones, which I respected before I saw this film, but now,I don't understand why someone would write that.I decided to listen to the people who said positive things about it,and bought the movie on amazon.I was very excited for it's arrival and decided to watch it straight away. This movie is a true masterpiece,I'm not much of a writer, but this movie was worth reviewing.I don't want to give anything away,so I'll just leave it at this. It's worth the watch, you have a great time. You smile, you cry and you laugh.Another thing I liked very much were the illustrations and the photography,it makes you feel like you're there.Splendid film.

I was invited to an advanced screening of this film and let me just say that it was a very well written and directed film. Going into the theater I was expecting a depressing movie but I was surprised to find that it carried an uplifting tone throughout the course of this young man's journey. The acting was pretty good, especially from the young kids (Robbie Kay, Alex Etel). The cinematography was done well and the music and sound design complimented the film pretty well. The film maintained a subtle comedic tone that was balanced well with the drama, giving the audience a chance to laugh and truly connect with the characters. The subject matter of cancer might question some people but the film has a powerful message that many people should enjoy.

When I was first offered to watch a pre-screening of this movie, I must admit I was a little hesitant to view it. Normally I stray away from any movies that have to do with cancer. However, I thankfully did decide to watch the film and I am SO glad I did. Ways to Live Forever went way above and beyond my expectations. Though this movie centers around two boys on their journey of fighting leukemia, the tone is not one of somberness but of joy. Yes, sad scenes and deep questions of life and death occur throughout the film, but after walking away from the movie, I felt, well, joyful. There is an uplifting spirit from this movie that is completely beyond my explanation; the director did a phenomenal job at engaging the audience and pulling them into these boys' lives. Some of the best child acting I've ever seen. Cinematography was beautiful. I would recommend this film to both teens and adults. If you don't have a desire in seeing it, still see it. I promise you will not be disappointed.

See, 'awful' on this site means something terrible when in fact it originally meant something 'awe-ful'(wonderful) but then I suppose many word these day have been 'bent' these days to suit the 'bent' I am surprised that a 6.5 was given with no comments ??? any way.. I am giving it a 9 as I found it wonderfully thoughtful, tho somewhat withdrawn from the essential spirituality the child was seeking, and the rest of us with any common sense.. but then 'common sense is not so common these days' GK Anyway.. the movie and the acting were great, with the special touch of innocence we can all reminisce,.. perhaps a little to deep to leave under teens alone with
